Olof was born in Varhaug, Norway. He was promoted to glory on March 3, 2016 on the tertiary palliative care unit in Burnaby Hospital surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen in 2014.

Olof dedicated his life to the service of His Savior, Jesus Christ, spending two years in Home Missions in Canada prior to serving for 35 years as a missionary in India. He met and married his sweetheart, Helen, in India; and his two children Edward and Sylvia, were born there. He was retired the last 29 years of his life, living first in Abbotsford, B.C., and then in Vancouver, B.C.

His family who celebrates his life and will miss him dearly include: son Edward with his wife Pennie, granddaughter Elysia, grandson Joshua with his wife Stephanie and great granddaughter Georgia (age 2); daughter Sylvia with her husband Joseph, grandson Erin with his wife Julia and two great granddaughters, Grace (age 7) and Ivy (age 4).

The family gives special thanks for the excellent care given for the past year by all the staff at Brock Fahrni Pavilion and then in his final days by the palliative care nursing staff and by Dr. Susan Germain, palliative care doctor.

His interment will be on March 12, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Hazelwood Cemetery, Abbotsford. His memorial service is scheduled  for  April 23 2016  at  1pm at the Abbotsford Evangelical  Free Church.

Messages:

My son and I went down to Jhansi on our trip to visit the work in India. We were met at the train station by Olof and George Samuel and stayed with Olof and Helen for several days looking around at their work and ministering in their church. This was the start of my work with India which has lasted to this day and also for our son' son, Gerald Jr. who takes teams to India and now our Grandson, Gerald Owen who will make his second trip to India this summer with a team. The Dublands work will be carried on till we all rejoice in heaven not only with those who went out to work but those who were reached for Christ. Deodars continues to be a lighthouse for Christ.
