Angela Maureen Walters

February 25th, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother and wife, Angela Walters of Balgonie,SK. Mom passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024 at the age of 65 surrounded by her loving family following a very brief but courageous battle with brain cancer.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Ottilie & Alfred Siebert, her sister Donna who passed away in infancy, and her sister Diane Pedwerbeski in 2016.

She is lovingly remembered by Randy, her doting husband of 48 years who affectionately nicknamed her “Big A”, along with their brood of hair greying, exasperating, yet pride of her life children, Brandy (Garry), Ryan, & Melissa (Stevan). They truly were the greatest treasures of her heart. And a special shout out to mom’s bonus child, our cousin Todd, who didn’t cause her the same grief her children did. It would make mom’s day when he would go out to the farm for coffee, and she never failed to appreciate his impeccable timing and special knack for always showing up when the cabbage rolls were on.

Mom is also survived and cherished by her brother Howard (Charlotte) Siebert as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Todd (Alicia), Lori (Brian), Kim, Cynthia (Steve), Cheri (Fran), Mike, Glenna, David, Clayton & Trisha. Her grandchildren (and grand-children by heart), Bella, Skylar, Devon, Kayleigh, Keigan, Kamron, Kyrah, Kacie & Angela, as well as great-grandchildren, Skye, Jaxx, Rhyder & Maveryk. They were each her pride and joy and her earthly reward for a life well lived. We would also be remiss not to acknowledge her deep affection for her many cherished fur babies over the years.

Born and raised in Regina, mom eventually met dad, fell in love, and they were married in 1975. They began their life and created a beautiful family together on the farm near Balgonie. Once the kids started school, mom went to work at the Balgonie Veterinary Clinic followed by several years working at Safeway. She cherished the memories and friendships made during her years at work.

Mom could light up any room…not only because she usually had a lighter in one hand and a cigarette in the other, but because of her whit, charm and inviting smile. She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids as they grew up. She was a lover of life’s simple pleasures and took great joy in antiquing, flower gardening, fishing, bonfires, and sunsets. Mom never met a cigarette or coffee break she didn’t enjoy. She welcomed friends and family with open arms and could often be found in the summer months relaxing on her deck, which she had magically transformed into an inviting sanctuary for the numerous hummingbirds and butterflies that loved to be in her space. Though generous and infinitely kind, she took a special kind of pleasure in dominating the annual Walter’s Family Invitational Poker Game. Though she shares the top spot with Ryan by having her name engraved on the trophy, not once, not twice, but thrice, she still reigned victorious in her heart, adamant that she had been robbed of what would have been her fourth win if it hadn’t been for Melissa’s “enthusiastic” mixing of the evening’s drinks.

Have we mentioned yet how much she loved her coffee and cigarettes?

In more recent years, mom also found a passion for travel. Despite a lifelong fear of flying, Mom bravely boarded a plane to Cuba in 2015, and from that moment on, she was hooked, making up for lost time by indulging in three tropical vacations in a single year.

Finally, we want to honour the unique and cherished bond shared between mom and her namesake grand-daughter Angela who resided together in the family home. Their companionship and connection brought immeasurable joy and comfort to mom and breathed new life into her world. Angela was the apple of her eye, and she took immense delight in helping to raise and nurture her, guiding her through new adventures, and providing unparalleled security, consistency, comfort, and unconditional love.

Above all, mom leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. In her absence, we will seek solace in the cherished memories and find comfort in beautiful sunsets or in the gentle humming of the hummingbird wings.

At mom’s request, there will be no funeral service. Instead, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to honour her memory and the love she shared with us all.
