Charissa Pearl Stobbe

June 29th, 2023

We are heartbroken by the loss of our daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend, Charissa Pearl Stobbe. Charissa passed away on June 29th, 2023 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan. She was born on May 19th, 1971, in Winkler, MB, the daughter of Raymond V. Stobbe and Shirley A. Demers (nee Rempel). Charissa had a relatively peaceful life for just under 3 years, until her sister Shawna was born. Proving to be, as sisters often are, both her best friend and worst enemy when provoked. She spent most of her growing up years on various hog farms where, in addition to various chores around the house, Charissa enjoyed playing with her pet dogs, riding her bike, and playing with grandparents and cousins.

The family moved often during her school years with stops in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario – Winkler, Balgonie, London, Verschoyle, Ilderton, and Ingersoll, before returning to Balgonie, SK. A common thing said was, “It’s been 3 years, where are we moving to now?”.

During her Grade 7 school year, she was baptized, upon the confession of her faith at Parliament Community Church with Pastor Norm Neufeld. She graduated high school from Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute, Grade 13, class of 1990. After this she briefly pursued Business Administration but found being with people mattered more than reading textbooks. So, she worked a variety of odd jobs where, due to her dedication and dependability, she often rose to supervisor status. These included stops at Dairy Queen, Super 8 Motel, Durston’s Bakery and Burger King. Her dependability often led to longevity, allowing her to spend 10 years at Value Village, 7 years at Tim Hortons, and an additional 8 years at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Charissa had a unique way of connecting with people that left a memorable imprint, and over the years she became friends with a wide variety of people. She had an infectious sense of humor that didn’t take herself too seriously. She enjoyed giving and could usually take a good joke. Charissa had a charismatic personality that allowed her to be the life of the party but was also a gifted a listener. She was someone you could talk to and was always there, no matter what, at any time. She was fiercely loyal, caring to a fault, loving and generous. She is described as “one of a kind…I have never had another friend like her”.

While she worked at Value Village, she met Amber Komar. They became family. She was thrilled to become Godmother to both of Amber’s daughters, Sydney and Brooklynn and was dedicated to her role and being in their lives.

The life of Charissa also changed greatly with the addition of her nieces and nephews. To say she was a proud Auntie is an understatement. She was involved wherever she could be. Cheering them on, whether it be near or far. Her presence and phone calls will be missed deeply.

Charissa is predeceased by both her Rempel and Stobbe grandparents. She is mourned by her parents, Raymond Stobbe (Shirley LaChapelle-Stobbe) and Shirley Demers (nee Rempel, Bob Demers). Her sister Shawna Klassen (Andrew Klassen), niece Sarah Klassen and nephew Joshua Klassen. Her step-sister Arlisse Miller (Rob Miller), step-niece, Ashley (Ryan) Schmidt and family, step-nephew, Chase Miller and step-niece, Chloe Miller. Her step-brother Keri LaChapelle (Heather LaChapelle). In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to do as Charissa often did. Perform a random act of kindness for a stranger. Brightening someone’s day.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 at Parliament Community Church, at 1 pm.
