Betty Ann Durant

April 16th, 2023

Betty Ann Durant passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 16 with family by her side in Maple Creek, SK at the Southwest Integrated Health Care facility where she was a resident in long-term care.

Betty is lovingly remembered by  children: Perry (Lorie) Durant, Sherree (Rolf) Zeis, Sharleen (Doug) Ulrich, Ryan (Chantone) Durant, and Jason (Nadine) Durant, and 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by  her sister Nellie (Roy) Matthews, brother Harry (Carol) Fletcher and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Betty was predeceased by her husband Doug, her parents Elma and Burt Fletcher, her older brother Eugene and his wife Jeanie, and sister Beatrice Cole.

Betty was born on September 21, 1938, in Watson, SK. She grew up on the family farm North of Quill Lake, SK. Betty was full of life and always ready for an adventure. She moved to Regina with her sister Nellie and attended beauty school to become a hairdresser. She married Doug on June 30, 1960 and they had five children over the next several years.

Betty was creative and artistic – whether in her garden, painting a picture or sewing her heritage teddy bears. She always stayed active golfing, curling, baking, playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many fond memories were created at backyard wiener roasts, trips to Cypress Park and hiking in the hills in Eastend.

Betty’s devilish sense of humour and zest for life remained even though dementia took a lot of her life’s memories from her.

Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who knew her.

The family wish to express their heartfelt thank you to all staff of the Wolf Willow Health Center in Eastend and the Meadows House in Maple Creek for their excellent, compassionate care of Betty.
