Marie Jacqueline Luce Eberts

March 19th, 2021

It is with profound sadness that the family of Marie Jacqueline Luce Eberts (née Polard) announce her sudden passing on March 19, 2021 at the age of 82 years. Luce was predeceased by her loving husband Edward; their son David; her parents Nicholas and Madeleine Polard; and siblings Charles, Roseline, Marcel, Monique, Remi, Michel, Claude, and Christiane. Luce will be fondly remembered by her siblings Genevieve, Jacques, Madeline and Jean; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and numerous well-loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many treasured friends.

Luce was born on September 20,1938 in Leoville, Saskatchewan. She graduated from school in 1956 and became a nurse. Rumour has it, after playing hard to get and turning down his first marriage proposal, she married her great love Edward Frank Eberts in Chamberlain, Saskatchewan on June 25, 1960. They were blessed with five children, sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren who added to their love story for the ages.

She was a devout Catholic who was heavily involved in the community, a long-time member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL), volunteering her time through the church. Every Sunday you could find her leading the choir with a voice that lifted your spirits the moment you heard it.

She loved to sing and dance, she never cared who was watching.

Her hobbies included teaching ceramics, sewing, crocheting, baking, gardening and holding onto everything that was ever dear to her. She enjoyed fashion, always looking her best and being the loudest one in the room. Luce and Ed travelled many miles visiting friends and family every chance they could.

She will be remembered as a fun, out-going, outspoken, strong, and loving matriarch who was always willing to help someone in need. She always rooted for the underdog and advocated for the less fortunate. If ever you asked Luce for help, she was there.

Private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Please understand, due to recent Covid-19 restrictions the service will be invitation only. The service will be available through livestream at: https://www.whitetailfilms.net/luce

In remembrance of Luce’s love of flowers, flowers are most gratefully accepted. As well, a memorial donation may be made to  I am H.E.R. (Workshops & Mentorship Programs for Youth).

Messages:

It was a beautiful service. Thank you for sharing. I will always remember with fondness my Auntie Luce.

Such a nice service! It was special to hear how Aunt Luce inspired those around her. My mom, Madeleine has been talking about Luce every day for weeks. She remembers how Luce was her protector when she was a shy child. She says Luce was always watching after her, "Luce is in my heart." She will miss her. Lots of love to you all, Pauline

I was thrilled to be able to talk to Luce a couple of years ago. She seemed so vibrant as always. We have missed her as a neighbour, and as a friend. We are sorry for the loss to the family.

Spending last summer with Luce was one of the greatest things I have ever done, if not the absolute best. She taught me many life lessons, she showed me what true love really is and she made sure we laughed and danced every single day. She will be greatly missed. Hugs to the Eberts family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. The Eberts family were close neighbours and considered almost family. It’s sad as time goes on we don’t see people often, but we will always remember them.

To the entire Eberts family, sorry covid prevents us from being with you at this time but rest assure our prayers and thoughts are with you. We will miss Auntie Luce very much, Love Daniel, Glenda and family.

I had the pleasure to both sing with Lucy and accompany her on the organ through the church choir. She was such a strong woman that didn't hold back when you either did good or bad, but you knew she was always there to push you to your best and was always straight with you. Condolences to the family. She will be missed but is now back in the arms of her loving husband and watching over all of you from above.

Condolences to all the family and friends, RIP Luce I know you are singing with the angels and reunited with the love of your life. May the family hold close to all the memories
