Janay Desjarlais

May 25th, 2021

It’s with great love and great loss that we announce the passing of our daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend Janay Desjarlais.

Janay was born on January 11, 1989 and crossed over on May 25, 2021. She was born to Lynette Cochrane (Desjarlais). Being the eldest of 4 children, she quickly embodied her motherly nature starting from a young age. Her love, care and connection with her siblings was a unique treasure beyond measure. She loved you exactly the way you needed to be loved. Her caring soul led her to work with children who needed something extra, someone like Janay. She was blessed with her own son Gabriel, a mirror of his mother, the light of her life. He brought her a joy that was incomparable to anything in her life. There is no love like a mother’s love for her child. She was gifted in the arts and creative to her core. Words would flow effortlessly through her. She was a writer, a poet, a dancer, a singer and a gifted natural born healer.

She was predeceased by her grandmother Georgina Desjarlais; uncles Alvin Desjarlais and Ray Desjarlais. Janay is survived by her beloved son Gabriel; siblings Riley Desjarlais, Elias Cochrane, Rhyanna Cochrane, Robert John Cochrane, Brooks Cochrane and Christian Cochrane; father Robert Cochrane; and beloved mother Lynette Cochrane.

She will be greatly missed for every part of her being. Although living on earth will never be the same without her, her legacy will continue through her baby, our hearts, memories and faith.

Private Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 10: 30 a.m. in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Regina, Saskatchewan. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Regina, Saskatchewan.
