Marian Jean Pollock

March 20th, 2020

With great sadness we say good-bye to Marian Jean Pollock who, at the age of 86 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Riverbend Crossing, Regina, SK on Friday, March 20, 2020.

Marian was predeceased by her parents Robert Ernest and Margaret Olive McIntyre of Yorkton, SK; her sisters Margaret Brace and Shirley Whitby; and her brother Robert McIntyre.

Marian will be dearly missed by Don, her husband of 62 years; their children Lori (Ron Kloschinsky), John (Brenda), and Leanne (Stephen Higgins); grandchildren Kim (Mike Bergeron), Karli (Kye Stewart), Kristin (Mike McKay), Katrina Pollock (Austin Frie), and Elliot Plourde; great-grandchildren Stella, Henry, Jack, Jameson and Kylin. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters-in-law Gladys McIntyre and Barbara Pollock; and many nieces and nephews.

Marian was born on March 8, 1934 in Melville, SK and moved to Yorkton, SK with her family, where she attended school. She enjoyed participating in numerous sports, particularly achieving much success in track and field. After high school, Marian moved to Regina, SK receiving her RN designation in 1955 from the Regina General Hospital. Marian met Don in Regina where they were married in 1957.

They raised their family in Regina, and Marian became involved in the community with leadership roles in Brownies, Sunday school, and coaching speed skating. As her children grew up, so did her role of being a Mom. She loved deeply and embraced motherhood supporting her family. She cherished time with grandchildren with love and abundance.  Marian loved to dance and listen to music - particularly ABBA. Marian often would be found knitting, sewing or tending her garden. She loved the outdoors whether taking long walks or skating on the ice. Her greatest love was bringing family together for many delicious meals.

Marian enjoyed many summers at Kootenay Lake in British Columbia. It was a special place for her where her family reconnected. Marian’s final years were marked by living with Alzheimer’s disease but her loving spirit continued to shine through to the end.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Schussler, the staff at Riverbend Crossing for their support and care to Marian, and all of the residents of Riverbend living with the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

After cremation, the family will hold her ashes until a memorial service at a later date.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Marian may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan.
