Kevin Daniel Kearns

January 31st, 2020

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Kevin Daniel Kearns on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the age of 51 years, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Kevin was predeceased by his grandparents Norman and Hap Kearns and Ed and Freda Steinhauer, and his father-in-law, Charles Muntain.

He is survived by his spouse Carla Gardiner and her children, Jessica and Michael; parents John and Doreen Kearns; siblings Patricia (Robert) Middleton; Greg (Linda) Kearns; and Ian (Raelee) Kearns; mother-in-law Maureen Muntain; sisters-in-law Patricia and Beverly Muntain, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Kevin was born and raised in Regina and lived here his entire life. He was a man of few words, but made an impact on the people around him with his easy going and fun-loving personality.

Kevin went to work for Canada Safeway right out of high school and was an employee for over 30 years.  This resulted in another family – his work family – and he maintained those relationships for years.

Kevin loved watching the Saskatchewan Roughrider games; playing pool and darts; and visiting Las Vegas!  In his younger years he played a lot of fastball and then rec softball.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, and at the Pasqua Hospital Units 3A and 3B, as well as the emergency department.  You took such good care of him over the past 2 years!

There will be no funeral, however a celebration of life will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin’s memory can be made to the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Allan Blair Cancer Center, or Friends of Unit 3B (c/o Hospitals of Regina Foundation).

We wish we had special words to help you through this time. We only have thoughts and would like you to know we are deeply feeling for you all. We do have a great memory and hopefully John and Doreen you have this one as well. We took Dennis on his holiday (his ashes)to help us with our grief,I suppose. Our first stop was in Regina as you both are so warm and welcoming. Kevin and Michael were there and we had an awesome day with a backyard barbecue with you guys going all out as usual. Laughing and chatting about precious memories and making a new one, thank you. We all have these precious memories and losing a part of your life physically hurts. Love and support one another as each of you go through this unfortunate part of your lives. Our deepest heartfelt thoughts are with you.

Carla and Family♥️ Mike and I are saddened by the loss of a friend or in better terms work family. He will be forever in my memory and heart as my pool partner, my coworker, but most of all my friend. He made our tough days at work tolerable, he made outside of work filled with laughter. He will be one of the best bakers I had the privilege to work with for over 20 years. Our thoughts and prayers of healing to you all and hope that Kev has now found peace.♥️ Joy and Mike Schabel

My heart hurts for you. Much love from my family to all of Kevin's family and friends.

My sincere condolences to all. Kevin was a great cousin, and although he never spoke a lot, his smile and his presence was always a comfort. As you struggle with your emotions in the days ahead, please temper your tears with smiles of happy memories and know that his suffering has ended. Please take care.
