Mary Wild

November 2nd, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mary B. Wild (Dreher) at the age of 93 years.

Mary was born on August 16, 1926, number 7 of 20 children to George and Helen Dreher. At an early age she attended Silver Valley School near Kendal, SK and Dakota School near Francis, SK.

On July 2, 1945 she married Joseph Wild and they farmed east of Odessa from 1945-1960.  After selling the farm they bought the hotel in Yellow Grass that they owned until 1968 and then moved to 1767 Rupert Street, Regina, SK where she resided until August 2019.

Mary had an extremely strong faith and was very involved with St. Joseph the Worker and Holy Child Roman Catholic Parishes. She was also a member of the C.W.L. She enjoyed bowling and playing TV bingo every Saturday night. The family loved to receive her personalized birthday and anniversary cards. She was the heart of our family and our mentor teaching us many life lessons. Mary’s family gatherings on special occasions were her pride and joy. She grew a bountiful garden that she shared with others and her flowers were bright and colorful like Mom’s personality.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Joseph and her son-in-law Clete Roach.

She is survived by her eight children Joanne Roach, Shirley (Richard) Weinkauf, Marietta (Roy) Klock, Vern (Patricia) Wild, Curtis (Darlene) Wild, Donna (Kevin) Vogt, Dorena (Glenn) Kress, Juanita (Dan) Crosby. She has 27 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her cherished children, grandchildren, family and friends.

A Celebration of her Life will be held in Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, 2636 - 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Brian Meredith Celebrant. Private family interment in Regina Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ooi, Dr. S. MacDonald, Wascana Heights House and JD & C Care Home for the compassionate care of Mom. Flowers gratefully declined. If you wish donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Messages:

My Condolences to both the Wild and Dreher families. I got to experience Mary's giving and loving attitude she had for everyone around her when My mom (Catherine Knoll) and Mary were friends reunited at Wascana Heights Care Home and JD and C Care Home for one month before they both passed away. It was like fate brought them back together for the last days of their lives. They reminiced about the old days, watched polka party on TV Saturday nite holding hands and sharing a blanket. It was heartwarming to watch them together. Mary will be sadly missed but her spirit will live on in her children.

We will all miss Mary so much.

We will all miss dear Mary - she was a very close friend of my mother, Margaret Laslo, who lived on Regent Street in the East end, (who passed away 11 years ago) - and I enjoyed sending Mary birthday cards, and Christmas cards - and I will miss her forever...!!!
