Mary Ethel Vargo

March 26th, 2019

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019 Mary chose to join her husband Bill on the other side. She had a long and fulfilling 92 years during her time here on Earth.  Mary was born on November 2, 1926 in the RM of Hazelwood, Saskatchewan to Steve and Susana Nagy. She met Bill Vargo and they married in the spring of 1951. They spent their first few years in Ontario while Bill worked but returned home to Saskatchewan in 1959 and Bill and Mary built their dream home in Pilot Butte in 1960. There they not only raised their two children Joanne and Gary, but had the pleasure to watch their three grandchildren Chris, Mike, and Kim grow up. In 2002, Mary said her final goodbyes to Bill and a few years later moved into Regina. She spent many years living in an apartment near the Northgate Mall and Saturday mornings were spent at the nearby McDonalds having coffee with friends and breakfast with grandson Chris. Mary was an exceptional cook. Her homemade noodles were an absolute must accompanied with your soup of choice. Among her many delicious menu items her apple pie was worthy of any cooking show competition. She loved WWE wrestling and watched faithfully three nights a week. Her love for her family was undeniable. Birthdays were always celebrated especially in the last few years at her favourite buffet place Rose Gardens. Mary was known to speak her mind and kept to that until her final moments. She will be reunited now with her husband Bill, her son Gary, brothers Albert, Steve, Joe and Geza, and her sister Tillie. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Joanne (James) Dahlin; grandsons Chris and Mike; granddaughter Kim (Mike) Jones; her brothers Louis, Mike, and Lloyd and sister Margaret; daughter- in-law Mavis (Randy); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Regina Memorial Gardens.
