CORDELL, Cyril “Cy” Eugene

May 21, 1951 – January 10, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved partner, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Cy Cordell, on January 10, 2022, at the age of 70 years.

Cy was born in Oyen, AB on May 21, 1951, to George and Mabel (nee Gilbertson) Cordell. He grew up in Oyen and spent most of his years in Red Deer, AB.

He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his loving partner Sherrie Atherton of 31 years; his children Shane Cordell, Tanya (Peter) Dellewell; his grandchildren, Rhea (Ian) Lacroix, Chelsey Cordell, Shelby (Riley) Todd, Ryley Cordell (Jay Raber), Rebecca (Alex) Brown, Tristan Albright (Shawnee Kirk), great-grandchildren Xander and Faye; his step-children Tracy (Cory) Biever, David Baker, Tiffany Baker (Jon Plante); step-grandchildren Cody (Breanna) Biever, Courteney Biever, Kyler Biever, Medeux Plante, Lukas Plante and Juliette Plante; his siblings Trevor Cordell (Pam Gray), Sheila Seitz, Dwight (Fran) Cordell, Rosemary (Norman) Wildman; Brother in law Fred Atherton, Sister in law Sally (Mike) O'Rourke; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Cy was predeceased by his parents George and Mabel (nee Gilbertson) Cordell and Step-son Brandon Baker.

Cy always looked on the bright side of life and loved bringing joy into people's lives. He had a passion for helping people out when someone was in need. He actively participated in Christmas Angel Elves, bringing Christmas joy to families in need. He owned a limousine just so he could treat friends and family to a chauffeured limo ride for special events. He had a passion for travel and always found unique items to bring home and show in his private collections. He was especially fond of his automobile and gun collections.

We would like to express gratitude to the staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre for their outstanding care in Cy’s last days.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Cy’s name be made to STARS Air Ambulance or Saving Grace Animal Rescue in Alix Alberta.

Messages:

I really enjoyed time spent with Cy. He always found a positive way to work through things. I want to thank him for getting me involved and working for the CTF. I miss our Thursday time and talks about the issues and life.

Sherrie, I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending many prayers for you and your family. Cy sounds like a wonderful person and I know you'll miss him. I love you my friend.

Life in itself has no meaning, Life is an opportunity to create meaning. Meaning has not to be discovered; it has to be created. You will find meaning only if you create it, It is not lying there somewhere behind the bushes, so you can go and you search a little bit and find it. It is not there like a rock that you will find. It is a poetry to be composed, it is a song to be sung, it is a dance to be danced. You can meet somebody tomorrow who has better intentions for you than someone you’ve known forever .. time means nothing .. character does. To us you are that someone. You changed our lives in the short time we’ve known you and I only wish you could of met our baby in person. We will always keep you in our memories, Until we meet again.
