1935 – 2021

Mr. Gerrit Visser of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at the age of 86 years. Gerrit was born in Edmonton on March 4, 1935 and moved to Red Deer in 1976 to join a firm of Chartered Accountants as a partner. He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene (nee Bos); and his sister-in-law, Charlotte Visser; as well as Arlene’s siblings and their families. Gerrit was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Edward Visser; and his sister-in-law, Betty Megli. Gerrit enjoyed skiing, hiking, sailing, photography, travel and following his retirement, he and Arlene enjoyed cruises to many parts of the world. A family gathering in his honor will be held later this summer. If desired, Memorial Donations in Gerrit’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4R 3S6 or to a Charity of Donor’s choice.

I'm so sorry for your loss Arlene. Gerrit was an unique and generous man in my dealings with him over the years. He was never afraid to ask questions, or ask them again if he didn't understand the answer but he was never rude about it.

We are saddened to hear of Gerrit's passing. I worked with Gerrit from 1976 until 2000(?) - we often had lively discussions about many matters which I appreciated and will miss. Our condolences go out to Arlene.
