Carolina Mejia Vides

August 14th, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolina Mejia Vides on August 14, 2018, at the age of 71 years in Richmond, B.C. after a hard-fought battle with cancer.  She is survived by her sisters Clara Emilia and Maria Elena, her daughters Maria Lourdes and Carolina Ivette (Frank), her son Payton, and her grandchildren Luis Miguel, Bianca, Mateo, Olivia, and Rafael.

Carolina was a devoted foster mother for countless infants over the years.  She was the most caring, giving, and selfless person you could meet, and her legacy will be the tremendous number of people that she affected in life.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver General Hospital, and Salvation Army Rotary Hospice Richmond for the outstanding care given to her.  Funeral mass 11:00 am on Wednesday August 22, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Vancouver, followed by burial at Ocean View Cemetery in Burnaby.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

I remember Carolina as a young child myself. She would come to our neighborhood with her son to play with my siblings and I. My mom and her would have long conversations under the setting sun while we played. She will be dearly missed for her kindness, and big heart.

I just learned this morning of Carolina's passing in August. I am so sad to know this, and will miss her quick intellect, her caring, her determination to make the lives of foster children better. Our world is better for her being here, and we all benefited from knowing her. Doubtless there is a brighter star in the heavens now.

Dear Abuela I miss you. And I Love you. And I will always remember you

I am so very sorry for your loss. The world lost one of its true saints, its true heroes. Carolina was unwavering in her love, dedication, and care as a foster mother to Bianca Talia (Taliya) who my wife and I adopted. She gave of herself with such generosity and compassion. She touched so many lives, and I will always remember her.
