Craig Thomas Caldwell

March 18th, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Craig Thomas Caldwell on Sunday March 18, 2017 at the age of 56.

Craig will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 30 years, Joann, and his daughter Jenelle. Craig will also be fondly remembered by his sister Jan (John) and many foster children including Kayla, Victoria, Chrystal, Noah and Marcus (Meagan).

He is also survived by his uncles, aunts and many cousins including Russ Caldwell (Donna) who was like a brother to him. In addition, his sisters-in-law, Noreen (Bill), Irene (Rick), Charlene (Robin), and Leeta, and many nieces and nephews.

Craig fought a valiant and long battle against cancer. First diagnosed with leukemia in 1990, he received an unrelated bone marrow transplant on October 23, 1991. For many years following he struggled with complications and was never able to return to his job at Burnaby General Hospital. Instead he became an amazing “Foster” Dad and he and Joann helped to guide and encourage many children in their home for more than 25 years.

Craig loved sports, politics and beer. In his younger years he enjoyed downhill skiing and was a devoted BC Lions fan. He coached high school basketball in North Delta and was well known in his neighbourhood.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the Irene Thomas Hospice in Delta.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

Memorial donations in memory of Craig can be made to the Fraser Valley Foster Parents Association.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.
