Messages:

Dear Julie Dale & family: I just saw your dad’s death in the Obituaries of the B.C. Catholic, I notified the group we use to be with in St . Mary’s, they were all so sorry that none of us had seen it in the paper, as so many do get the paper on a regular bases. We all would of attended his funeral if we had only known, we lost touch with your dad when he moved, as we did not know where he had moved to. We often spoke of Rhys and wondered how he was doing. The warmest thoughts of sympathy go out to you to-day. Thoughts that lie within the heart to deep for words to say and may it make the loss you feel less difficult to bear knowing your dad had many friends that understand and care. Sincerely Frances Bathurst and all the St. Marys gang.

Dear Uncle Rhys, Thank you for being in our lives. When my brother, Chris, and I visited Vacouver as children we loved to visit your home and family. There always was a boisterous, fun get-together! Initially you towered over us, but you doted on us, hugging us & making us know how much you and Jean loved us. After that I described you as a "teddy bear that tries to appear gruff". You and Jean had a special place in our hearts. So much so, Rodger and I planned on naming our child, if it was a boy, Rhys Victor. When we were in BC in 2009 our daughter Megan finally was able to meet her great-uncle. Just like us, she was smitten with you. That year you sent a Christmas card to her and it meant a great deal to her. She took the news of your passing especially hard. We know how much you were looking forward to being re-united with Jean. Our solace is that you two are together again and knowing how much joy that will bring to you. All our love, Wendy, Rodger & Megan
