Andrew William Farnell
June 6th, 1943 ~ March 18th, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we share in the passing for our Dad, Andrew William Farnell on March 18/ 2024 at the age of 80. Andy leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a whole lot of fun memories for all that loved and knew him.
Andy was predeceased by his wife, Lesley Anne Farnell and his parents Helen and William Farnell. He is survived by his daughters Kristina, Jennifer, and Amanda, son-in- laws Jamie and Geoff, grandchildren, Belle, Charlie, Sophie, Tyler, Olivia, Ava and Kamryn, his sisters Nancy and Joan, and his brother in laws Joe and Peter, his cousins, his nieces and nephews, his golfing buddies, his teammates, his players and so many friends and neighbours.
Andy was born in Vernon on June 6, 1943, and grew up in East End Vancouver on Kitchener Street. He met and married Lesley in 1965 and moved to Ladner in 1971 where he and his dad built homes next door to each other on Central Avenue. With his sister Nancy and her husband Leander building right behind them, they raised their 3 daughters (and nephews) and made many memories in the house and in the backyard. The house was a hot spot for family gatherings, countless parties, and multiple weddings.
Most people will remember Andy for his impact on local sports. He played baseball, hockey, golf, curling for most of his life and coached his daughters (and granddaughter) in both soccer and baseball. When not out coaching, you would find him out watching a game or walking his dog, Buddy down at Hawthorne or Memorial parks. There was nothing Andy liked more than a great game (of anything).
Andy was loved by everyone for his charm and sense of humor. Papa was King to his grandchildren, and he loved every minute that they were around him. He loved walking with them to Sarah’s for ice cream and chatting on the back deck for hours.
Please join us for a celebration of Andy’s well lived life at the Ladner Baptist Church on Saturday May 25th, 2024 at 11am. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local sports association.
He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. We love you Dad -our Papa.

Met Andy when Kris and Kelly started playing soccer … coached together “..Seattle Soccer Exchanges”..so many memories..living across the street… baseball, soccer ,and curling. Grateful for those Rest in Peace Friend Sandy and Karen Farrant
