Eric Winfield Scott

Eric Winfield Scott (May 17, 1944 – March 24, 2024)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. Eric is survived by his loving wife, Diane, his 3 wonderful children - Chris (Rick), Angie and Steve, 4 grandchildren - Steven (Sara), Gregory, Josh, and Chloe, as well as 3 great grandchildren – Baxter, Quinn, and Charlie, 3 brothers - Roy (Wiesia), Dave, Rick (Linda), and 2 sisters Judy and Debbie (Bruce), and several nieces and nephews. Eric was pre-deceased by his Mother (Audrey), Father (Ernest) and Brother (Kerry).

Eric was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and spent his younger years growing up in Sapperton, New Westminster. Then moving to Coquitlam with his family in his teen years, where he eventually met and married his loving wife, Diane.

Eric worked for several years as a bus driver for B.C. Transit until he retired in 2009. His greatest joy and sense of accomplishment was during the years he was an elected Officer, first as Vice President, then as President, in ICTU (Independent Canadian Transit Union). He was immensely proud to serve his fellow Union Brothers & Sister’s whether it was for day-to-day issues or bargaining for better wages and working conditions.

Eric enjoyed watching hockey and golf on TV, loved fishing at the family cabin on Clearwater Lake in the Caribou with family and friends, trips to Maui, and later in his retirement years, travelling in the motorhome to Arizona for a few weeks in the winter months.

You will always be remembered for that twinkle you would get in your eye and mischievous smile. That is when we would know you were about to impart some nonsensical words or actions that would have everyone laughing.

We have had a special life together Eric/Dad, and until we meet again, may you rest in Peace.

By request, there will be a Family Only service to place Eric’s ashes in the burial site next to his Mother In-Law & Father In-Law at the Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery in White Rock. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to commemorate Eric’s life, please consider donating to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a favorite charity of your choice.

Messages:

Not only the best Dad a son could ever ask for but an amazing best friend. My Dad was always there for me when I needed him and he would always make me smile with his witty ways. He is always in my heart and will always be. I look forward to going fishing with him again

Those we love can never be more than a thought away; for as long as there's a memory, they live on in our hearts. Rest peacefully, Eric, until me meet again.
