March 12th, 2021

VANDENBOR, Theodorus

Theodorus was born on March 30, 1938, the 4th child of 8, to Jan and Hentje van den Bor in The Hague located on the North Sea of the Netherlands.

He immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 15 and landed in Edmonton, Alberta.  There he met Hendrina Everdina Ryksen who was also from the Netherlands. In fact, they were born only 108 kilometers apart but didn’t meet until they were in Edmonton. They married on July 18, 1959 and remained life-long sweethearts.

Theo and Rina moved to Three Hills, Alberta to raise their family in 1961. They worked together in owning and operating the Three Hills Bakery. In 1974 they moved outside of town and purchased a grain farm near Swalwell, Alberta. Theo enjoyed many interests and earned extra income by driving school bus in the country, maintaining a perfect safety record. He also contracted out his welding services for Prairie Bible Institute. In 1993 they retired from the farm settling in Calgary, Alberta to be close to their children.

In 2013, Theo’s wife Rina went home to the Lord after 54 years of marriage. In 2016, Theo’s only granddaughter, Eden Rene Murray, joined her grandmother in Heaven.

Theo met his Lord and Savior face to face on Friday, March 12, 2021 when Jesus called him home.

Theo will be missed by his daughter, Catherina (Glenn) Fuhr, of Edmonton, Alberta; his daughter, Christine (Basil) Crawford, of St. Stephen, New Brunswick; and his son, John (Lori) Vandenbor, of Calgary, Alberta; his grandsons, Michael Murray, Ryan (Catherine) Murray, Joshua Vandenbor, Charles Crawford, Daniel (Lily) Vandenbor, Jonathan Vandenbor; and his great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Kylie Vandenbor.
