LALONDE, Cynthia

1965 – 2021

We sadly announce the sudden passing of our friend, Cynthia Colleen Lalonde, on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the age of 56.

Cynthia was born in Edmonton on January 15th, 1965, but spent most of her life in Calgary or traveling the world as she was an adventure seeker. She has left behind many great friends, spread throughout her journeys around the world, and her two cats, Amber and Munchkin, which she loved dearly. She was a dedicated friend, calling her close friends her chosen family, and is lovingly remembered by all of her family.

She had a zest for life and loved to have fun. She would dress up to celebrate every occasion. Her love for travel took her all over the world, and each trip was commemorated by postcards and pictures she displayed proudly on her walls. She was a dreamer who always had big plans and was never scared to do things alone. Cynthia also loved music and concerts.

The last few years were a struggle for her after a horrific accident. However, she persevered, and despite these difficulties, she still felt the need to do her part to help others. She had a passion for animal charities, assisting many dogs, cats, and horses along the way.

A celebration of life is being planned for next spring. Watch her Facebook page for updates. Please consider a donation to Rescue Friends Animal Foundation, who is caring for her cats, or another charity near her heart, Dogs and Cats of Antigua, in lieu of flowers.

Cynthia’s larger-than-life personality touched many, and she will be deeply missed.

“The song is ended, but the melody lingers on…”

The Song is Ended, Irving Berlin, songwriter.

Dearest Cynthia, You left us too soon. So many things we still needed to do. Miss you my Friend. Rest In Peace. Love Your Friend Sophie

A tragic lose to all of us! Love and will miss you my friend!

Cynthia also had a hidden talent in art and painted for a while. I was awe stricken when she asked for a picture that was taken of me when I was on a rope swing hung from a tree in Mississippi. She wanted to paint this picture and she succeeded to do so. I never in my life thought I would be the subject of a painting. Her painting turned out just like the picture. I have this painting in my bedroom where I can see it from my bed everyday. I am so honoured by her request to do this painting.
