WOLNEY, Marcel

February 11, 1924 – August 26, 2018

Marcel died peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018, of heart failure, at the age of 94 years.

He was born in Leslieville, Alberta where he grew up on the family farm. He served in WW II and then settled in the Lower Mainland of BC upon discharge in May 1946. Marcel moved to Calgary, Alberta in November 2014 to be closer to his family after health problems became an issue.

Marcel is lovingly remembered by his daughter Linda (Terry) Gomke and son Dale (Jan) Wolney; six grandchildren Julie, Matthew, Kyle, Jordan, Dylan, Chelsea; two great-grandchildren Abby and Cole. Marcel was predeceased by his wife Eunice in 2009.

Marcel’s greatest passion was fishing. After retirement, he spent many hours fishing at Langara Fishing Lodge and trout fishing in the Interior of British Columbia. There was never a bad day fishing as far as he was concerned. Our family would like to express our gratitude to all the staff at the Colonel Belcher for their caring and kindness towards Marcel.

Messages:

Thank you for putting the notice in the Langley paper, we appreciate the opportunity to offer our condolences. We took the opportunity to reminisce, we fondly remember his happy smile, laugh and fishing stories. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I will always remember your dad’s smile and his laugh. It was always so genuine, and even though I didn’t see him very much at all, I can remember how happy he made all of us. I am sad to hear of Uncle Marcel’s passing, but I’m sure that he has already caught a bigger fish than all of his brothers. My sincere condolences to all of you. Sherron Moos (Wolney) Dennis’ daughter and Teofil’s granddaughter.
