Christine Teresa Smith

Christine passed away in Calgary on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the age of 72.  Wife of Tom for 45 years;  mother, to Scott (Lorenzo) Smith, and  Laura Smith; grandmother, to Ashlyn Smith. She is also survived by sisters Karen (Mike) Simon, Louise (Paul) Ryan, Doris (Gregg) LaRocque;  brothers Bill (Carol) Merlo and Mark (Fawn) Merlo and many nieces and nephews.

Christine began her career as a teacher at Wild Rose College and practiced many natural healing techniques.  Later in her career, she was the creator of The Legend of Knows Hill and Our Lady of the Roses ceremonies that took place on Nose Hill. 

A Memorial Service will be held at Corpus Christi Church, 404 Northmount Place NW, on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 2:00pm.  On Saturday, July 28, 2018, a  Celebration of Christine’s Life will be held at the Calgary Winter Club, 4611 14 St NW, Calgary, Alberta, from 1:30pm to 4:00pm.  Those interested in remembering Christine on Nose Hill and getting a sampling of her plays, please meet at 12:15 (noon) at the Calgary Winter Club’s north west parking lot for a one hour walk up Nose Hill.  Please wear comfortable walking shoes and comfortable clothing. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Christine’s honour may be made to Special Olympics Calgary, #14, 2180 Pegasus Way NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M5.
