Meghan Franziska Lanneville

November 22nd, 2018

Meghan Franziska Lanneville (nee Moore) of Airdrie, Alberta passed away on November 22, 2018 at the age of 42.  Meghan passed peacefully surrounded by family at Dulcina Hospice in Calgary after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Meghan is survived by her loving husband Pee-Jay; daughters Ellah and Jacquelyn; parents Wayne and Charlotte; Sister Amanda (Brad) and niece/nephew Molly and James.

Meghan was born in Calgary at the General Hospital on July 31, 1976 to Wayne and Charlotte Moore.  Meghan was proud to be born a third generation Albertan and enjoyed learning about and sharing her family’s heritage with others.

During Meghan’s school years at OS Gieger Elementary, Foothills Academy, and Bishop McNally High School, she met many friends and developed numerous, life long, relationships including meeting the love of her life, Pee-Jay, in grade 11.

After High School, Meghan attended Mount Royal College and the University of Calgary where she received her Arts’ Degree in Political Science and Master’s of Teaching Degree in Education.  During her time in post-secondary, Meghan studied many different aspects of political science and historical topics.  During these various studies is where she discovered her love for US and African-American history.

Upon graduating from the University of Calgary, Meghan began teaching at Renfrew Educational Services as a kindergarten teacher.  While at Renfrew, Meghan was able to put her mark on society by teaching and influencing the youngest and most impressionable minds.

Meghan’s greatest dream of becoming a mother came true April 2007 when Ellah was born.  Soon after, in May 2008, her second wish came true and was blessed with her second child; Jacquelyn.  Being a mommy to Ellah and Jacquie was Meghans greatest accomplishment and joy in life. Meghan took her mothering and home-maker job very seriously; she cooked large nightly meals, cared for the kids and took greatest of pleasures when the girls were school aged and needed help with homework and assignments.  Meghan loved her family with all her heart and soul; she was kind and gentle but also a ferocious momma bear when needing to be.

Meghan’s family would like to recognize and thank the numerous Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals that cared for Meghan during her illness; most notably Dr. Walley J. Temple and Dr. Sasha Lupichuck and their teams at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.  Also, the Airdrie homecare team for always being available and ensuring Meghan was comfortable and safe at home for as long as possible with her loved ones.

Messages:

Pee-Jay, my condolences to you and the girls on the loss of your wife and mother. It has been great getting to know you at work, and outside of work. I'm always here when you need to chat.

Today is both a sad day and happy day, sad because of the loss that has been in occurred but happy because she has reached his final destination in life and is now united with our Lord and Savior. Our condolences to you and your family. Meghan was a beautiful soul

My heart goes out to you and your family on the passing of your wife, Mother and best friend, know that you are in my families thoughts and prayers.

Meghan will always have a special part of my heart. She was truly a gentle, kind, and loving soul. Shawna had always spoke so lovingly about Meghan and their friendship. May they reconnect in heaven. Sending love and prayers to you and your family

I meet Meghan at Renfrew, I didn't work with her in her classroom but since I was working in the classroom at the end of the hall, every day after work I had to pass in front of her class to exit the school so while I was waiting for my husband to pick me up I was hanging out with her and we would chat. She was so nice and we could talk about lots of things. When we both left Renfrew, we kept in touch through Facebook and that's when I found out that she was battling Cancer. So I was sending her messages to cheer her up. I love following her life and watching her beautiful girls grow up. She was a wonderful mom and so in love with her husband that's what I will always remember about her and her smile too, she was kind and caring. I don't understand why good people have to suffer from Cancer and go so early. I am so sorry for Pee-Jay, Ellah and Jacquelyn, family and friends for losing such a wonderful person. Sending hugs and love everyone.

I always felt that Meg would beat this because she was so positive, and for all appearances, never let on that she was even sick. That was her strength and I believe, her legacy for Ellah and Jacquelyn. Your Mom on the surface, was quiet and serene, but in her heart and soul she was a fighter, stronger than any of us considering what she endured for nearly a decade.

Pee-Jay, I am so sorry for your loss. I was not aware of Meghan's passing so please forgive my late message. My deepest condolences to you, your beautiful children, and your family. Meghan's liveliness and loveliness are engrained in my mind and moves my heart, for she had a kindness, strength, and smile that makes it unforgettable for those who were lucky to cross paths with her. You've always been one of my most favorite, and inspiring couples. Much love, Jenny Yu

My heart aches for your family. Meghan was a great person. Many laughs and tears were had. So many great memories. Our school camping trip is always on my mind. Walking by the lake sharing stories. Jumping on the trampoline until we couldn't breath. That was the best. Meghan you were great friend.
