Val Longeway passed away peacefully, after a 14 year battle with cancer at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary at the age of 77 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Ray; their children, Cheryl (Joe), Bob (Krista), Richard (Sarah) and Angela (Andrew); grandchildren, Alexandra, Marcus, Nathaniel, Emmalise, Malin, Chad, Elizabeth and Leanna; brother, Albert (Mary) Pedden; and a large extended family and many friends. Val is predeceased by her parents, Alex and Norma Pedden; daughter Christine; and siblings, John and Dana. A Celebration of Val’s Life will be held at the Crossfield Community Centre, 900 Mountain Ave., Crossfield, AB on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Val’s memory may be made to the Town of Crossfield, Crossfield Christmas Hampers, PO Box 500, Crossfield, AB T0M 0S0, or to a charity of the donors choice.

How dearly I will miss our daily chats either over the fence or while walking our dogs. You were a great neighbour and friend. You were always so thoughtful and caring. We will miss you with aching hearts and wonderful memories.

Longeway Family, We are sorry for your loss. We will sadly miss a great neighbor, friend and fellow dog walker. We always managed to bump into Val on walks, conversed about the weather, farming and our dogs. We received an abundance of apples that became pies that reminded us her when we ate them. She will be missed dearly. I admired Val for her acceptance of her illness and to live everyday l with no regrets.
Such a special person will truly be.missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
