Nickolas "Nick" John Leinweber

October 12th, 2017

LEINWEBER, Nickolas John
June 17, 1992 - October 12, 2017

Nickolas “Nick” Leinweber, youngest son of Teresa Wiebe and Howard Leinweber, lost his battle with addiction at the Peter Lougheed Center in Calgary, AB on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the age of 25 years.

Nick was born in Calgary, AB. He played hockey for Trails West, atom football for the Wildcats and also enjoyed baseball, soccer and basketball.  Nick attended school at Glenbrook and Killarney Elementary Schools, Ernest Manning High School in Calgary and W.G. Murdoch in Crossfield. After high school, Nick worked for LMS as well as other labour jobs, where he learned many skills. In his spare time, Nick enjoyed writing poetry, hoping to put his words to music.

From an early age, Nick possessed a sharp wit, and combined with his exasperating antics, brought his friends and family a lifetime of laughs. Nick is lovingly remembered by his loving and heartbroken parents, Teresa Wiebe and Howard Leinweber (Karen); brother and best friend, Allan Leinweber; maternal grandparents, Richard and Esther Wiebe; Uncle Jayson; Uncle Shawn & Aunt Michelle Clarkson; cousins, Kevin & Alanthea; and his niece, Rebecca. Nick was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Danny and Ethel Leinweber.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank two of Nick's closest friends, Tara Poffenroth, for always visiting Nick in the hospital and regularly checking up on him and Todd Cusack for helping Nick out with transportation, and remaining his friend throughout the bad times. You were both truly special to Nick.

The family would also like to extend our gratitude to Calgary EMS and medical personnel at PLC who tried valiantly to resuscitate our son.

Please join us as we celebrate Nick's life at East Church of the Nazarene, 5420 – 8 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Casual dress please.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick’s memory to the Salvation Army Centre of Hope, OR The Mustard Seed for housing our son OR the Calgary Dream Centre.

Messages:

Nick's smile is what I have remembered the most since he was in my Grade 1/2 class at Killarney School. I remember the twinkle in his eyes, the possible mischief and fun that might find him, and his love for his friends and family. Love, strength and peace are sent to his parents, and family. I wonder if he has already made God giggle. Lori Higgins

Howard, You & your family have been & are in my thoughts and prayers daily. Please know that you are loved by GOD & many others you know. My condolences to YOU & all of your family! Enjoy your life to the fullest and take each day as it comes. Love, Hugs & Blessings, Your friend Wally

Nick you will be severely missed in this world, still to this day you are my favourite comedian/practical joker - we grew up together and I got to play some of the most fun years of hockey I can imagine with you - from Tournaments to McDonalds breakfast after practice; I will never forget how much you made me laugh and how many great memories we share to this day. Time slips away from us all and I wish I took more time to see how you were in our later teens - you won't be forgotten and I will be telling your stories till the day I die. Love you buddy and I'll see you again one day soon.

Howard, we are so sorry to hear about your son! Warmly your "old" neighbours: Patricia, Lori and Alison.

Nick was a great kid . He was a good soul who always tried to make people laugh. My sincerest condolences to Howie and Teresa words cannot express the pain you must be in

My deepest sympathys to you and your family Theresa. I have personally experienced addiction in our family as well. I understand that pain. Just know your baby will always be with you when the sun is shinning in your face, when a gentle wind encircles you and that special song grabs your attention, he is there as your angel. I can only imagine the pain you must be feeling and am sending hugs. Please take care of you and your family. I am so sorry that your heart is breaking. ❤️❤️❤️ Marilyn Neilson.
