Sam passed away peacefully at South Health Campus on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the age of 28, with his loving family by his side. Sam is lovingly remembered by his loving father, David; aunt, Debbie; mother, Nadine Furhman and her son, Jesse as well as numerous other family members and friends. He is predeceased by his fraternal grandmother, Ruth.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, 8944 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm. A Private Family Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sam’s memory to a charity of your choice.

Sam was my best friend. Although we hadn't been speaking at the time of his passing. I loved him dearly. Through all his struggles his main concern was that everyone around him was happy. He always tried to make people happy. Sam and I battled a terrible demon together. We layed in a bed together and came off opiates together. I saved his life one night... I'll never forget the terror of not knowing if he was coming home and when he showed up I was so happy. Sam wasn't perfect, but he was as close as it gets no matter what struggles he had. He deserved so much that was taken far too soon. I'll never forget his laugh. I'll never forget his smile. He is the reason I have the career I do. He is part of the reason I've been clean and I wish he was here to just sit on the couch wrapped in blankets watching movies. I will miss doing that the most. Guilt is currently eating me alive. I wish Sam had seen my messages trying to reach out to him over the last year. I drove by his house so many times and could never bring myself to come to the door. I regret that so much
