Kathy Johnson passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on June 1, 2017 at the age of 82 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Al, their four children Alana (Cliff), Douglas (Tracy), Sherri (Andrew) and Terri.

Kathy was a loving grandmother of eight children; Janet (Klyment), Christopher, Kevin, Sarah (Jon), Syrena (Matt), Cameron, Nikki (Joshua) and Macaulay; and great grandmother of two children, Madisyn and Ryder. As well, she will be missed by several significant people she touched over her lifetime.

Kathy was born in Edmonton, Alberta on June 26, 1934 to Steve and Agnes Johnson. She grew up in Victoria, BC surrounded by her siblings Anna, Laverne “Sonny”, Marie and Bernice. She met her husband, Alan “Al” Johnson when she moved to Calgary in 1955. They were married on October 6, 1956 and enjoyed 60 years of wedded bliss. Kathy and Al raised their family in Calgary where she worked as a medical office manager for 30 years.

Kathy loved life and while she took pleasure in all sports; her favorite pastime was golfing with Al and their family. She and Al enjoyed a number of years during their retirement as snowbirds traveling to Hemet, California participating in various activities and making many new friends.

Her many talents included baking goodies for her family; and with her passing we will see the closure of the “Beacon Hill Bakery”. She was a devout Catholic and took pleasure in volunteering with a number of church ministries both in Calgary and Hemet.

Messages:

I miss you momma!

Al, I am sorry to hear of the passing of Kathy, your devoted wife of 60 years. I know how you feel for I lost my wife Alice on January 19th of this year. I am still missing her dearly. I am also sorry I will not be able to attend the funeral, but will be thinking of you. Rest in Peace, Kathy. Your friend, Andy Aitchison.

We remember Kathy as an efficient office manager for Dr. Cody and as a member of St. Patrick's.rd

Aunty Kathy was terrific fun at family gatherings, forever smiling and telling amusing stories. A 'people' person with a huge heart, she clearly enjoyed everyone she came in contact with. She was also generous and I am reminded of the time I was in Calgary for a week playing at a local nightclub. She insisted upon having MY ENTIRE BLUES BAND over for dinner. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and went to the gig that night well feed and having been wonderfully entertained. Our family will not be the same without her and my family sends our warm regards to Uncle Al, Alana and Cliff, Doug and Tracy, Sherri and Andrew and Terri and all of Aunty Kathy's grandchildren and great-grand children. Bless you all....Marcus, Tracey, Keelan, Lindsay, Mike, Eli and Jakey.

Hard to believe that our "big" sister has gone. Kathy led a very busy, interesting life before her illness hampered her lifestyle. Such a "dynamo". Al and Kathy enjoyed over 60 years of wedded bliss and the best golfing retirement ever in Hemet, California. We are very sad. She will be missed but remembered always with love from our families and her old Mt. Douglas school friends.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Kathy's passing. Our memories of Kathy and Al go back more than 40 years. We will miss her very much. The world was a better place with her in it, it is a poorer place with her gone. Our most profound condolences; Jim and LeMoine Philp Ramona Hanson

May the angels guide her to paradise. May the love of God and the peace of Jesus the Christ bless and console her family and friends and gently wipe every tear from their eyes.
