DALEY, Ronald James

Ronald James Daley passed away peacefully in Calgary on Thursday, March 23, 2017 with his children by his side. Ron was born September 16, 1940 in Biggar, Saskatchewan, son of Charles Slocombe and Lydia Slocombe Daley and Step-father Roy Daley.

Daley grew up in Saskatoon and Edmonton with his Aunt Hilda and Uncle Ray Daley. Daley was an active sportsman, playing semi-pro hockey and Baseball as well as fishing and hunting. He married Elaine Heywood of Crossfield March 28, 1964 in Calgary and moved to Carstairs in 1968 to begin a 27-year career with Home Oil. He raised his family in the Carstairs Community until retirement where he moved to Innisfail in 2001, he spent his time visiting with local farmers and continued to hunt and fish.

Daley is lovingly remembered by son, Ron and Tammi (Sawyer, Shallaine & Cassidy); daughter, Tina (Michelle & Megan); daughter-in-law, Joni (Jena & Cameron – Asher & Eleanor, Lucas, Hannah & Luke) and Elaine Daley. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Joyce Ewazko; and son, Michael (1999).

A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at the Carstairs Community Hall on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 7:00 pm. It was Daley’s wish that in lieu of flowers or donations, we all give some time to a child. “Take a kid fishing, to a baseball or hockey game and show them the value of Sportsmanship.”
