Margaret Dora May Strutt

STRUTT, Margaret Dora May

It is with an immeasurable sense of loss that we say goodbye to our wonderful Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and friend, Dora May Margaret Strutt (nee Lindberg). Dora May was a woman who lived to create beauty. From the wreath on her door, to the clothes that she wore, to her professional work as a hospital and human resources administrator, she strove to leave everything she touched a little better, a little lovelier and often a little cleaner than she found it. Hers was a creative and disciplined spirit. She left a legacy of art and craft in her wake; handmade cards, fresh baking, and more than a few home sewn outfits that we happily left behind in the 70’s. Whether we were going to school, working, or raising our own children, we never had to look far to find our role model, our capable leader, and our gentle teacher. Dora May leaves behind her three daughters, Kristin, Kari (Ken), and Amy-Jo (Tren); her grandchildren, Katherine, Daniel (their father Bruce), and Veronika; niece, Sharron (John) who was a tireless helper in Mom's final months. Waiting to greet Dora May in the great beyond is Joseph Strutt, her ‘forever Valentine’ and husband of 42 years; infant son, Timothy, lost at birth, but never forgotten and her precious grandson, Joseph Duff. Please join us in honouring Dora May's life on Friday, October 17,  at 1:00pm, at the Calgary Winter Club, 4611 - 14th St. NW, Calgary, AB. Our family wishes to acknowledge the staff and volunteers at Rosedale Hospice. Their compassion and caring during Mom's final weeks were a blessing. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity you hold dear.

Messages:

Rest in Peace my dear friend Dora May. We were new mothers together, friends forever. We created many good memories over the years. To Kristin, Kari, Amy-Jo & family, may beautiful memories bring you peace, warmth and some laughter of precious times. God Bless all of you, Sheila Heintz (Read)

Kristin, Kari, Amy-Jo and families. So sad to hear about your mom. Seems like another "link" is gone as our mothers still kept in touch with cards and over the phone. Another reminder that it is left to us to continue the contact. Think of you often - the crazy times we had when we were young. Why do I remember (vividly) white lipstick? Cherish the memories.

Dear Amy-Jo and family, Sorry to hear about your Mom passing. It brought back many memories of the swim club days. Take good care, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Janice, Patti, Sherry, Colleen and Helen

Please accept our condolences on the passing of Dora May, she was a wonderful person, we spend many a night playing cards and having such a good time. She is in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

What a lovely and accurate tribute to your mother. Since I lived with Dora May in the St. Boniface Nurse's Residence I have always been impressed by her positive attitude. Even if she lost her hearing or depended on a water bottle as her constant companion she never complained. This she highlighted for me when I visited her in the Hospice. She said she was very happy to be in the Hospice. Will miss you . Condolences to your family.

Dear Kristin, Kari, Amy-Jo and family, With Deepest Sympathy ... May you always feel your loved one near in every treasured memory. Our Sincere Condolences, Venka and Marko
