ALDRIDGE – Gordon Wayne

It’s with indescribable sadness that we share the news of the death of our beloved friend, father, grandfather, brother, son and husband Gord.  He was raised in Calgary and had a long career with the Calgary Board of Education. He retired in 2011 due to health reasons.  He’s survived by his wife, Pat; children, Greg (Teagan) and Kristen; mother, Mary; his brothers, Leonard (Laurel) and Bruce (Yvonne), and by the light of his life, his granddaughter, Grace.  He is predeceased by his father, Bill and brothers, Dennis and Darrell.  A Private Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordon’s memory to either the Canadian Diabetes Association, 2323 32 Ave NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 6Z3 or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 6007 1A Street SW, Calgary, AB, T2H 0G5.

Messages:

Pat. I can't believe it. I only became aware of Gord's passing and your loss. It was a privilege to know you both and count you as my friends. You were an inspiration of love in good times and bad. I am sad that "Handsome" has died. He was so well loved by you Pat and he loved you well in return. He was fortunate to have you in his corner as things got tough. You were his rock and his hope for better times ahead. My heart is with you . I think of you both often --especially when arranging flowers in my beautiful crystal vase. I am sorry that this is so belated. Love. Vanessa

Dear Pat and family, I was so saddened to hear of Gord's passing. I enjoyed working with Gord so much at Huntington Hills School. He was a strong, quiet leader and showed such compasion and caring for his staff, students and their families. I have worked for many principals and he was a favourite. Please accept my sincere sympathy.

So very sorry to hear of Gord's passing. I met Gord when I worked at Huntington Hills Elementary. He was so good with the kids. They just loved him! Take care.

Patty and Family - I am so saddened to hear of Gord's passing, my mom (Shirley)and Gord will be up in heaven drinking there diet cokes and talking about old times. Gord will be missed by so many, he was a great friend and if it wasn't for Gord kicking my butt when I was younger I don't think I would be the person I am today.

Pat and Kristin: I'm so sorry for your loss. Thinking about both of you and your family during this sad time.

To Gord's family. I was so sorry to hear about Gord's passing. My sincere condolences to you Patty and your family. Gord was wonderful to work with when we were both at Chief Justice Milvain. I was in the office so I saw a lot of him during the day. The office staff had so much fun teasing Gord. He was such a good sport and could give it back to us. I have such fond memories of my close friend Linda Romano and Gord laughing and pulling pranks especially when Linda accidently broke Gord's favorite coffee mug. I remember Gord disappearing at lunch time and coming back with his favorite treat - French fries. My time at Chief Justice will always be remembered as a happy time thanks in part to Gord. He was such a nice man. I am unable to come to Gord's celebration of life as we will be in Lethbridge with our daughter Heather and her family celebrating Heather's birthday. Sincerely, Joy Kirik

Dear Pat & Family, We are very saddened by Gord's passing. We are grateful for the very positive difference that Gord made with many students/staff during his teaching career and as a Principal with the Calgary Board of Education. He was always very positive and persevered even during his time of illness. May he rest in peace. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to support you during this very sad time. With kind thoughts & sympathy, Susan, William, Marilyn & Don

My condolences to the family for their loss. I was saddened to learn the passing of this great principal. I was fortunate to be at Huntington Hills when he started and retired from there. He will be remembered with fond memories.

I am saddened to hear of Gordon's death. Although I never taught with him, we were together regularly at APs and principals functions where I enjoyed his company. He was held in high regard for his principled work on behalf of students and staff.

We are so sorry fort your loss. We had the honour of getting to know Gord when he was the principal at Huntington Hills Elementary. I was privileged to work with him in my roles on Parent council and my daughters held him in high esteem. His connections with Katelynd and Arynn became very personal and they considered him a friend and mentor. I beleive he impacted most of "his " students that way. Katelynd invited Gord to her high school graduation ceremonies and it was such a joy as the other HHS alumni discovered his presence--"Mr. A. Is here!" Was heard more than once and many of them posted pictures with him on their Facebook walls--quite a tribute to the impact that he had on them. Katelynd is pursuing a second degree--in special education and she attributes her wish to being an educator to her hero: Mr. Aldridge. He was truly a Blessing and my families lives are better for having known him. He will be missed.

Dear Pat and Family, I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Please accept our condolences and best wishes through this difficult time. Sue and Brian
