KUYTEN, Norman Mitchel

May 1, 1931 – January 13, 2022

Norm is lovingly remembered by his spouse of 69 years, Connie, whom he married on November 15, 1952 in Strathmore, Alberta; children, Colleen Jones, Brett Kuyten, Tracy (Brian) Fanjoy and Jason; grandchildren, Trinity (Cam), Keeping, Misty (Dave) Simmons, Scot Kuyten, Grace (Tyler) Kuyten, Devon Campbell, Jackie Campbell; great-grandchildren, Faith Simmons, Autumn Simmons, Griffin Simmons, Beau Keeping, Shane Keeping, Thea Kuyten, Charlotte Kuyten and Cole; friends of grandchildren, Colton, Jordan, Jessica, Gabby and Brandon; Bretts Dog, Boo; and many family members and numerous friends. Norm was predeceased by son, Jason; parents, John and Marie Kuyten; inlaws, Howard and Inez Wilson; brothers and sisters, Frank (Vi), Jo (Ed), Nettie (George), Johnny, Diane (Dave), Marie (Al); special nephew, Francis (Arlene); as well as numerous family members.

Norm was born on the family farm in Baintree, AB, and attended Crowfoot School, and Strathmore school. Dad was a cadet for one year and marched proudly in the Strathmore Parade. Dad was 15 when his father passed away and was called back home to help on the family farm. His mom moved to Calgary and dad lost mom shortly after he wed Connie. We moved a few times through the years but our most memorable times are when we lived in Dewinton where he again was able to ride many a mile with us kids and friends. He was a goodlooking cowboy who knew how to rope and ride and was the Steer Riding Champion at the 1st Strathmore Rodeo. He entertained many of us with his fine singing voice, playing the guitar, running the side of a bread knife up and down the neck. Mom’s younger siblings called him Gene Autry and some of us kids were fortunate enough to inherit his singing talent. Dad was a truck driver, many years for Consolidated/Inland Cemet and retirement didn’t sit too well with him, so he worked for

Co-Op Gas Bar, till a fall brought that job to a halt. So he continued his life enjoying his kids and grandkids who he loved more than life itself.

Dad’s health was starting to cause him problems and after this past year, he visted the hospital many times and last week he decieded his days were time to come to an end and his agony came to an end on Thursday, January 13, 2022, with his family gathered around him and family face timed to say goodbye.

Dad was the most wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Unle, Cousin and Friend. He was so deeply loved and will be sorrowfully missed. Dad will be honoured with a Memorial to be announced this summer
