GRZESIAK, John Stanley

March 30, 1947 – July 11, 2022

Poland, Europe – Calgary, Alberta

Our family and friends have lost a truly remarkable man after a short illness, John passed away peacefully with his wife at his side.

John immigrated from Poland in 1969 and graduated from the University of Alberta as a Mechanical Engineer in 1974. He had a very successful career in the Oil and Gas industry and was lucky to retire early in 2000.

John was a world traveler, he and his wife, Bonnie, travelled to all seven continents in the world. He got to travel to many places that people only dream about seeing and he got great joy from his world adventures.

He will be remembered and deeply missed by many but in particular his wife and soulmate of 39 years, Bonnie; his only daughter, Nicole; son-in-law, Dave; and granddaughter, Adrianna. John had a great joy from being a grandparent. He also leaves behind his family in Poland, brother, Marek; niece, Martyna and Marcelina; nephews, Igor and Bartosz; and cousin, Krystyna in Vancouver. John was predeceased by his parents, Halina and Tadeusz.

As per John’s wishes, there will be no Service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in John’s memory so that gains can be made in defeating this terrible illness that takes so many lives.

Bonnie, and Nicole and family, it was with great sadness that I heard the very sad news about John. Bonnie, I know how many wonderful times you spent with John, both in and around the city and also so many amazing, unforgettable journeys you made together to endless places around the world. Not only were you very fortunate to explore lands that most of us will never see, but you had by your side at all times a kind, very patient man who made sure that you were able to do, with camera in hand, what you love so much. You have so many memories! I hope these will give you everlasting comfort. Thinking of you - Anne

Bonnie, It was a surprise when you told me about John suddenly falling ill and then of his passing. You may never get over this moment Bonnie, but with the help of friends and family you will get past it. Hope to see you soon.
