Roy Darch

April 30th, 1940 ~ July 11th, 2022

DARCH, Roy

1940 - 2022

Roy passed away peacefully on Mondy, July 11, 2022, at the age of 82. Roy leaves behind his daughter, Paula (David) Schuler; his grandson, Brad (Lyndsay); his granddaughter, Danielle (Austen) Elke; as well as cousin’s, Doug (Olive) and Ted (Luba).

Roy was born on April 30, 1940, to Ruby and Stanley Darch and was raised on their family farm. At the age of 17, Roy had sadly lost both of his parents to illness. During this time, he was included in his Aunt Bea & Uncle Fred’s family with their two boys Ted & Doug.

Roy stayed on his family farm for many years, where he raised his daughter Paula with her mother Dorothy-Mae. Roy enjoyed the farm, auction sales, tractors, antique cars, jeopardy and the Blue Jays. He enjoyed his role of “Papa” Roy and looked forward to Sunday dinners with the family.

Roy lived on his family farm, then in Granum, and lastly Claresholm. When his health began to decline, it was necessary for him to move to the Willow Creek Continuing Care Center. It was there he expanded his family to include the staff and volunteers that cared for him, as well as the other residents. He resided there for 9 years. Roy and his family are grateful for the care, compassion and kindness that he received at WCCC.

Rest in peace Papa Roy-we won’t forget you. When we said goodbye on July 11th, we hope there was a ‘57 Chevy waiting to take you “home” and that you are now in a wheat field having a shot of rum.
