Bob passed away at home peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Bob will be remembered and already missed by his wife, Shirley; his sons, Rick (Debbie), Kevin (Theresa), Daniel; daughter, Karen (Dan); son, Robert (Tammy); grandchildren, David (Shannon), Nicole (Layne),Tyler, Holly, Cole, Laine, Paton, Jessica, Ashley; great Grandchildren, Hudson, Indiana, Morley, Clayton, Eleanor; and his sisters, Nora Evans, and Jean Francis (Owen). Bob was also loved and will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Bob was predeceased by his father, John; mother, Edith; sister, Dorothy; and his brother, John. Bob was born to John and Edith Sutherland at home on the family farm west of Carstairs. Growing up Bob worked on the family farm and participated in 4-H. At 15, due to his father’s sudden passing Bob quit school to work full time on the farm as well as started working at the Carstairs/Crossfield Gas Plant. Outside of his family, Bob’s true passion was hunting with all of his family and friends. In 1969, Bob met the love of his life Shirley and they were married in November of 1970. In 1972, Bob and Shirley moved into the home that would become the foundation of their family to this day. In his spare time Bob played hockey on the Home Oil hockey team and curled in Madden enjoying many bonspiels and cabaret’s. When Bob retired from the Gas Plant he spent his time custom haying, attending auction sales and hunting with his friends and especially with his grandchildren. In the past several years Bob has enjoyed traveling to Yuma in the winters with his wife Shirley and their many friends from the Carstairs farming community. Bob will be remembered by everyone as someone who could fix anything and was always willing to lend a hand to any neighbor or family member.
