William Garry Montgomery

Garry passed away peacefully Monday, March 2, 2020 at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary after a courageous fight with cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Joan; brother, Jack (Janet); brother-in-law, Tom Procter; and his special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Elsie; father and mother-in-law, Claire and Jean Procter; as well as his brother-in-law, Milton Procter.

Garry was born, raised and went to school in Elkhorn, Manitoba. He also took a dairy course at the University of Manitoba, later working at the Elkhorn creamery. As a young man he worked on oil rigs and in the trucking industry and he also was in the hospitality industry with Joan for 28 years at Rossburn, Manitoba and Revelstoke B.C. When they retired to Airdrie, Garry later went to work at Adesa Auctions until 2019. Garry enjoyed his sports, especially the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. He liked to listen to old country music, swing and jive and music from the big band era. He took great pride and joy in a perfect lawn and yard. Garry will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and as someone that helped anyone out whenever he could.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff that took such good care of him through his illness. There will be a family Celebration of Life at a later date.
