Alice Bosgra beloved wife of Ted Bosgra of Calgary passed away suddenly after a brief battle with cancer. 

Alice was born in the Netherlands and moved to Canada with her family in 1952. She worked in the sugar beet fields in Iron Springs. Then she moved to Calgary and worked at the General Hospital as a porter.  She met Ted and they were married on November 5, 1960 and started a family soon after.  Alice enjoyed gardening, spending time with her children and grandchildren, knitting and working part time as a lunchroom supervisor and in the school library. Alice was a woman of strong faith in the Lord which she passed on to her children and others.

Alice will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ted; son, Dale (and Yvonne) Bosgra and their children, Jared, Caleb and Anna; daughter, Liz (and Tony) Salomons and their children, Joel and Samantha; son-in-law, Curtis Thiessen and his children, Ashley and Lyndsey; brothers, George and John; sisters, Dinie, Mary, Rita and Jenny; and many other family members and friends. Alice was predeceased by her daughters, Susan Bosgra and Terry Thiessen; her sisters, Beppe and Mieke; and brothers, Hank and Peter.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Rocky Ridge Retirement community especially the care team in the Dalhousie unit.  They cared for Mom these past eight months with her dementia and also with palliative care in her last few days.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, June 10, 2016 at River Park Church, 3818 14A Street SW, Calgary, AB. at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary, #201, 222 – 58 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB, T2H 2S3 or the Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5.

Dear Ted and family. I'm very sorry to hear of Alice's passing. I only found out today and wanted to let you know that I feel deep sadness for you. Alice was always a dear woman and we had a lot of laughs when we work together at Acadia. I know mom and dad also enjoyed visiting with the both of you. Mom has a lot of good memories working together. God bless.
