Casey Spencer Beamish

BEAMISH, Casey Spencer
May 14, 1985 – October 21, 2016

It is with profound sadness and shock that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother and husband, Casey. Casey was born on May 14, 1985 at the old General Hospital in Calgary. A week later, mom, dad, sisters, Carly and Sam and baby Casey moved to Airdrie. As Casey thrived and grew, he developed a love for the game of hockey and played through all the levels of Airdrie Minor Hockey. His love for hockey took him to Saskatchewan, British Columbia and back to Alberta. In 2003/2004, he played for the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL. He always dreamed of playing Junior A and that year the dream became a reality. Casey was such a home-grown boy. The next season he decided to play with his life long pals in Airdrie for the Thunder, where he played until the age of 21 culminating with a trip to Provincials in Spruce Grove.

Casey was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed skiing, fly fishing, camping, quadding and back packing with friends and family.

On September 22, 2009, Casey went on a first date with Kelsey Girling. They had known each other from working summers at the City of Airdrie. That first date was the start of an amazing love that just kept on growing. They were married on June 1, 2013 at the Girling family acreage west of Airdrie. The sun was shining and as they exchanged vows, coyotes were howling in the distance. What a moment!

Kelsey put the travel bug in Casey with a honeymoon in Italy. There were trips to Costa Rica, Mexico and Hawaii. The island of Kauai was Casey’s favorite holiday destination and Kelsey had no trouble getting him to return there.

Casey and Kelsey could not wait to become parents and at this writing, they are expecting a baby girl. Casey and Kelsey were so excited with the news, Casey was always talking about being a dad and his baby girl. Elsa Casey Beamish will be arriving on or around February 12, 2017 and although Casey will not be here to help Kelsey with their little beauty, the Beamish and Girling families will shower Elsa and Kelsey with support and love. The silver lining of Elsa’s birth is that we get a part of Casey back to love, cherish and watch grow up.

Casey will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife, Kelsey; mom and dad, Gary and Wendy Beamish; sisters, Carly (Jeremy) Lapainis and Samantha (Jesse) Foster; niece, Quinn; nephews, Drew, Beau and Vaughn; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many other family and friends.

A Celebration of Casey’s Life will be held at:
