Stephen William Lynch

September 26th, 2012

“Remember me fondly and know that I loved you”

I lived a wonderful life. Born in Ireland, one of the youngest of 19 children. I was surrounded by love. At 24 I left my homeland for Canada where I met my bride Mary in Toronto and we were soon blessed with 3 children. Stephen is survived by his children Maureen Mohan, Michael Ireland, Teresa Ankenman, Spouses and Children. We then settled out west and enjoyed the best years of our lives. Being a risk taker served me well in construction and land development. We were grateful to see our children well established in their lives. After Mary's passing in 1993 I enjoyed many years of daily golf (not to mention 6 hole in ones), cheering the Canucks, and time spent with cherished family and friends. Throughout life's hardships my faith and optimism always gave me the strength to endure.

A public visitation will be held at Alternatives 3070 - 275A St., Aldergrove, on Sunday Sept. 30, 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am on Monday Oct. 1 at Star of the Sea Catholic Church 1153 Fir St. in White Rock, BC with interment to follow at Gardens of Gethsemani. You are invited to leave a fond memory or message of condolence for the family.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC.

Sorry to hear of Steve's passing.Had lost contact over the years & was in Ireland at time of Memorial. Ar Dheis De go Raibh a anam dilish. (May his sweet soul be at the right side of God)

Hello Lynch Family, I knew your dad as I was the music therapist at Morgan Place until about a year ago. I don't often contact families upon the death of a loved one, but when I saw your dad's obituary I felt compelled. Your dad was such a lovely, kind and cheerful man. Dementia often changes a person's personality, but in your dad's case, I could see and feel his kindness and humanity shine through. The fact that he loved music and always had a smile and kind word for me made me feel deep satisfaction in my work as I knew that the music touched him...especially when I played Irish songs. When I read the opening line to his obituary, I immediately felt the truth of that statement. All the best, Harriet

To the Lynch Family from the Weldon Family, We are sorry for your loss and when we read the obituary for Stephen, we were very touched to see the opening line that we used for our Mother Shirley Weldon upon her passing. It was especially nice to see it was in quotations. We hope you are able to offer one another comfort as this time as our friends and family have done for us. Best wishes, Rick, Richard and Cal Weldon.

Dear Theresa and family, We were very sorry to hear of Stephen's passing! Although we are not able to attend the viewing or the mass in his honour our thoughts and love will be with you. Our family feels fortunate that we were able to share in a small way a part of Stephen's journey these last few years at the same time that we were visiting my mother. Please stay in touch. Isabelle, Opa, Theresa, Annie, Marguerite and Mimi
