Verva Irene Desrosiers

December 20th, 2014

Our mother, the oldest of five children was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 8, 1923.  Shortly after her birth, she and her parents immigrated to the Purdue area in Saskatchewan.  She attended Normal School in Saskatoon where her main area of study was primary education.  She and dad were married after the war and they eventually moved to Regina where dad continued to teach and mom raised her seven children.  Two of her children were deaf and one of mom’s greatest accomplishments in life was being instrumental in the formation of a pre-school for the deaf in Regina.

Mom succumbed to pneumonia in the Regina General Hospital on Saturday, December 20, 2014 after a brief hospitalization.  Her passing was peaceful, with family at her side.  Prior to her death, all of her children were able to visit.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband Ted; son David; brothers and numerous in-laws.  She is survived by her sister Doreen Desrosiers of Lloydminster; children Angela (Mike) Zurowski of Southey, SK, Michelle (Roger) Carver of Saskatoon, SK, Gregory (Linda) of Cloverdale, BC, Conrad (Joanne) of Langley, BC, Shelley (widow of David) of Regina, SK, Shevawn (Scot) Adams of Oakville, ON, and Bernard (Nadine) of Regina, SK; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  She loved each and every one of us without reservation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family R.C. Church, 1021 McCarthy Boulevard North, Regina, SK with Father Carlos Jimenez Celebrant.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Development and Peace, c/o Holy Family Church at the above address.  We extend sincere thanks to Arbor Oaks for the care given to mom these past four years.

“Knowing the love of her family, her desire to go home was strong.  One final sunset we shared, now reunited with her husband and son.  She will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”
