Geertruida van Haren

May 31st, 2022

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Geertruida (Truus, Trudy) van Haren in Red Deer, Alberta.  Born in Holland, she immigrated to Canada in 1952 with  her loving husband, Hendrick (Hank) van Haren where they first settled in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. They later permanently relocated to Red Deer, Alberta and retired to Half Moon Bay in Sylvan Lake.  Trudy passed away in her residence after a hard working, active and fulfilling life. She will be lovingly remembered by her surviving daughter, Maria Jewell and son, Peter John van Haren and their families;  as well as many relatives and friends. A special thanks to all the staff at Timberstone who took care of Trudy during her twilight years. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.

Messages:

Mary, Peter, and families, I am sending condolences from my aunt and uncle, Gisela and Bert Kooyman, and from myself. Your mum and dad were good friends of the Kooymans, and we enjoyed many laughs together when I was living in Red Deer while going to college in the 70's. Your mother, Truus, was a strong and thoughtful woman. I know you will miss her. Monica Green

Mary, Peter and Families. We were saddened to hear of the passing of Truus. You were all such wonderful neighbors during our growing years. There are so many fond memories of mom and Truus over the years. She was a wonderful lady and neighbor and was such a kind and interesting lady. Please know you are in our thoughts. Sally Parsons, Heather Parsons and Doug Sharp

All my best to Mary, Peter and the entire family. It was nice to be her closest neighbour for several years here in the "Village". Trudy had so many stories of her life adventures. I especially liked hearing about her growing up in Holland and living through the German occupation; and when she and Hank packed up and came to Canada. They were so brave. She looked back fondly on their life together with their children and their families.

To the family of Truus van Haren, Thinking of you in your time of sorrow. Truus was always happy when I came to visit her. She loved and was proud of her children and grandchildren. May the treasured memories of your Mom and Grandmother bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time. - Corry Badger

I am sorry to hear about the passing of Truus. My condolences go out to you and the family and on behalf of the First Christian Reformed Church in Red Deer I also want to convey condolences. I was fortunate enough to have brief visit with her about two months ago. Although I was not able to visit during covid I did visit her a few times before and always came away having enjoyed those visits. We will pray for you and may God give you comfort during this time. Pastor Harry Zantingh, First Christian Reformed Church
