LAKUSTA, Brenda Aileen (nee Brigley)

January 29, 1954 – September 23, 2022

Brenda Aileen Brigley was born January 29, 1954 in Ponoka, Alberta. She grew up in various towns throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta. In the early 1970’s Brenda and her brother, Rick, ventured out to Coronation to look for work. Brenda worked at the Shell Café and then as a teachers aide at the Coronation School. On April 3, 1976 she married the love of her life, Barry Lakusta. They were blessed with two sons, Matthew and Mitchell. Barry and Brenda moved to Red Deer in 1986 when Barry was transferred with his work.

Brenda will be remembered for her passion of cooking, sewing, quilting, crafting and scrapbooking. Everyone waited for the days she made her chocolate chip cokies or cinnamon buns. Brenda started a small craft business “Brenda’s Scrapbooking” in her home teaching people to scrapbook and craft. There were many weekends her house was filled with family and friends laughing, crying and yes, they did scrapbook!

Brenda was very proud of her boys and the lives they had built but her real joy were her grandchildren. They filled her life with so much love and laughter when they bounced into the house and onto her lap for hugs.

Brenda is lovingly remeberd by her husband of 46 years, Barry; two sons, Matthew (Tiffany) and Mitchell (Chyrese); 6 grandchildren, Weston, Wyatt, Piper, Ryder, Lexi and Kaleb. She is also lovingly remembered by her mother, Eldora; 5 sisters, Judith (Richard), Carol (Harvey), Marie (Duane), Susan (Dean), Penny (Brent); 2 brothers, Rick (Debbie) and Cliff (Shelly); as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Arnold; in-laws, Alex and Annie; and sister-in-law, Brenda Selfors.

In Brenda’s memory, donations my bemade directly to the

Heart & Stoke Foundation

Or

Coronation Cemetery.
