Marie-Paule Bernadette Dubois

August 17th, 2016

Mrs. Marie Dubois (nee Croteau) passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Wednesday, August 17 at the age of 79.  Born in Moose Jaw on October 13,1936, Marie grew up on a farm near Courval, Saskatchewan with her parents Bernadette & Paul Croteau, and siblings Térèse (OMI), Monique (Victor), Wilfred (Doris), Raymond (Terry) and Clarice (Michael).  Graduating from Zion Academy in Moosejaw, she went to work for Saskatchewan Power, where she met Tom Dubois – they were married from 1958 to his death in 2008.   While living in Storthoaks, Sask, they were blessed with 5 children: Denise (Rick), Robert (Wanda), Claudette (Marvin), Danny (Janice), and David (Donna).  The family moved to High Level, AB in 1969, where they spent 18 years before “retiring” to Red Deer to enjoy their 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  Marie was a successful businesswoman, had a wonderful sense of humor, and made the world’s best butter tarts, but mostly, she was a woman of strong faith and devotion to her family.  She will be dearly missed.   A Memorial Service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 – 48th Ave. Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The family gratefully acknowledges the staff of RDRH unit 31, the Red Deer Hospice, and especially of Victoria Park Seniors Centre.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:  EFFECT HOPE (The Leprosy Mission of Canada).
