Richard "Dick" Wannamaker

Dick Wannamaker passed away peacefully on Oct. 24,2012 at the age of 84 yrs. He was born in Gull Lake, Sask and came to Didsbury in 1944. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Valeda, his children Rick (Dena), Darwin (Diane), Greg (Myrna), his grandchildren Tobi, Cheryle, Rachel, Chelsea, Amanda & Holly, eight great grandchildren, his brother Bill, his sisters Mary, Donna & June and numerous nieces & nephews. Dick was predeceased by one son, Daryl.

In 1962, Dick opened his auto repair business in Didsbury, Dick’s Auto Service.  In the 1990’s, he sold the business to his son, Rick, who still owns & operates it today.

Dick loved gardening, yard work and reading. He was a devoted family man. Over the years, he enjoyed being involved in his sons’ various activities - hockey, farming, car racing, horses, dogsled racing & radio-controlled boat racing. Dick was always ready with his carpentry skills to do various handi-man projects for his family.

The Funeral Service was held on October 29, 2012 at Knox United Church in Didsbury. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a children’s charity of one’s choice.
