November 13th, 2014

Dr. Dennis Walter, age 85, retired physician, proud father, grandfather and loving husband passed away on November 13, 2014 in Tsawwassen, BC, after a courageous battle with pneumonia.

He grew up in Quartier Militaire where his father, Edward, was an Anglican Minister and school Head Master while his mother, Marie devoted her life to her family of four daughters and four sons. Upon graduation, Dennis taught Latin and ancient Greek. These language skills helped him earn a scholarship to the University of London, UK where he studied medicine.

While training at the Middlesex Hospital, he married Francoise (Amalie) Zehrer. Three children, Jane, Anthony and Richard were born in England. After moving to Saskatchewan in 1963, Dennis began his family practice in Regina where John was born. Francoise passed away suddenly in 1974. In 1980, Dennis married Jocelyne Blais who seconded him in his medical practice until retirement in 2000. Dennis was a very skilled family physician for over 40 years during which he was proud to have delivered thousands of babies. Many of his patients have remained close friends.

In 2002, Dennis and Jocelyne moved to Tsawwassen, BC to be closer to their grandchildren. Dennis will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Jocelyne, children Jane (Brian), Anthony, Richard (Hilda), and John (Deb); grandchildren Madeleine, Zak, Cole, Nicolas, Luke, Leah, and Lucy; his sisters, May, Alix and Lorraine; hisbrother Alex and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
