Daryl Keith Rosenthal

December 16th, 1970 ~ October 15th, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Daryl Rosenthal on October 15, 2021 after a year long battle with renal cancer.

Daryl passed away peacefully with Dorothy and Mika at his bedside. Daryl leaves behind his wife, Dorothy, daughter, Mika, mum Dorothy, sister Lisa (Philip) Scyner, brother Marc (Kristen), sister Robin (Bernie) Lalande, many beloved nieces and nephews, and his dog Brady.  Daryl was predeceased by his father, Edward.

Daryl was raised in Coquitlam and lived throughout the Lower Mainland until finding his home in Surrey, BC.  An avid outdoorsman, Daryl had a passion for fishing, hunting, and flying RC planes. He enjoyed wood-working, and in his younger years, was big into mountain biking and cycling. He would regularly pick up his guitar to play a tune from one of the many songs/bands that he enjoyed.  Daryl loved dogs and, with Dorothy, adopted 3 dogs from the SPCA and Loveabull Rescue Society. One of his favourite daily activities was to chat with neighbours and pet all the dogs as they walked by the house.

Daryl worked as a machinist and in road construction for Coquitlam Ridge Constructors and BA Blacktop.  Daryl’s favourite job was being a father: most recently he helped Mika find her passion for hockey and had found the greatest joy in coaching her hockey team and supporting girls’ hockey with the Surrey Female Hockey Association. Daryl’s love of the game also had him playing hockey regularly with the “big boys” in Langley.

Daryl’s memorial service will be a small, family only event.  Those wishing to visit his memorial can do so at their own leisure at Heritage Gardens Cemetery (19086 16th Avenue, Surrey, BC) starting on October 29, 2021.  His remains will be placed in the Katsura Garden area of the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to https://www.canuckplace.org/donate/

We plan to have a gathering in the spring or early summer to remember and honour Daryl and to enjoy time with family and friends as he would have liked us to do!
