Nicholas Edward Proznick

July 7th, 2019

Nicholas Edward Proznick was born to Joe and Dora Proznick in 1936, and raised on a farm near Wynyard, Saskatchewan.  As the youngest of seven surviving children, his siblings played a key role in his care and upbringing.

After attending the University of Saskatchewan, Nicholas moved to B.C., earned a degree in social work, and built his career in social services until his retirement in 1999.

Nicholas and Ann Marie were married in 1965 and settled in

Langley, B.C.   In 1968 he built his own family home in the

Murrayville area, and remained there until his passing.

A great game of golf was always a priority for Nicholas, but his true passion was cooking.  He was known to provide baked goods and Ukrainian meals, but his specialty was perogies.  His cooking was often accompanied by the sounds of classical music or opera.  Nicholas’ friends and family always looked forward to the manufacturing and distribution of his next batch of perogies.

Nicholas leaves behind his wife Ann Marie, daughter Laurel (Roland), son David (Susan), his 3 surviving brothers Fred, Paul, and Elmer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Messages:

Nick was a consummate Social Worker. Filled with compassion and an unmatched sensibility for human foibles. A man of steadfast principle and wisdom. I cherish the years in which he was my advisor and supervisor, in the challenging ethical environment of child welfare.

Sincere condolences.
