Doreen Kropinak

May 3rd, 2022

Doreen Kropinak passed away peacefully at the Wascana Grace Hospice/William Booth Special Care Home, Regina, SK in the early hours of May 3, 2022 at the age of 80 years. Doreen is survived by her children Todd Kropinak (Gena) and Catherine Kwasnitza. She was Grandma to Larissa (Karlin), Kyle and Ava; Joshua (Jordan), Velvett (Michael), and Bianca (Remy); Great-Grandma to Myla, Aiden, Maddox and expecting her newest Great-Granddaughter in June. She is also survived by her older brother Stuart (Cathy) Ross, her twin sisters Jeanie (Rod) Anderson, Joanie (Terry) Simon. Deanie was Auntie to Maureen, Charlie, Nicole and Stuart (Stuart’s children); Shelly (Darcy) and Scott (Jeanie’s children); James (Carly), Mary (Corey) (Joanie’s children); Great-Auntie to Bryttney, Easton (Shelly’s children); Claire and Noah (Mary’s children). Deanie was predeceased by her parents Charles Ross and Mary Elizabeth Morris, Loving husband Robert Kropinak (known as Bob) and Sister-in-law Donna Kropinak.

Deanie and Bob met in her hometown of Nelson, B.C.. Bob was stationed there as an RCMP Officer and their paths were destined to cross at a dance they had both attended. One look into Deanie’s Sea blue eyes and Bob was smitten. They were married in June 1963 and their little family would soon grow with the birth of their first child Catherine Mary Kropinak, who would be followed by a little brother for Cathy, Todd Ross Kropinak.

Over the years they had a love for travel, camping and the great outdoors. Bob’s parents were living in Blairmore, AB and Deanie’s family in Nelson, B.C.. Todd and Cathy have many fond memories of summers spent visiting their Grandparents and cousins.

Bob and Deanie had many adventures together with their family, and would call several places home. Through the years they would move to Regina, Edmonton, Ottawa, and make a full circle back to Regina.  When their children completed high school, they would make the decision to move to Cranbrook, B.C. to be closer to their aging parents.

Bob and Deanie would take many fabulous trips, cruises, and getaways in their camper that they loved so much. All of the Grandchildren adored visiting them in Cranbrook, and cherish many wonderful memories of their time spent together there. Horseshoe Lake was a favorite destination that will always fondly be remembered.

Deanie had many hobbies; she loved to read and do Cryptograms puzzles. She spent time doing needlepoint and was an incredible seamstress. She crocheted baby blankets for many babies over the years, and the blankets became favorites with her grandchildren.

You were an amazing Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Auntie and Great-Auntie. You had a beautiful soul and left us a trail of beautiful memories. How lucky we are to have had someone in our lives that makes saying goodbye to you so difficult. You will continue to live forever in our hearts, thank you for everything, for your life well lived and the love you gave. We will never find the words to say Good Bye so for now, until we meet again.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses, physicians and caregivers for the compassionate care that they gave our Mom. Deanie requested that there be no funeral service.  Memorial donations in her honor can be made to William Booth Special Care Home/Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK S4R 8P6.
