Carl J. Folk

Carl J. Folk passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022 at the age of 87, one week before his 88th birthday.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Nettie; his children Nancy (Steve), Valri (Amar), Teraci (Garry) and Jason (Taeko); his sister Lynn; grandchildren Jana, Anastasia, Meritt, Amber, Beth and Luther; as well as 8 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Jonas and Teresa; his son Greg; his siblings Eleanor, Leocadia, Josephine, Leo, Father Lawrence, Tommy and Hilda; and brother-in-law Mike.

Carl grew up on a farm in Mankota, Saskatchewan. He attended high school in Muenster, Saskatchewan. Carl met and married the love of his life Nettie and they were married on August 4, 1956.

Carl worked for the Department of Highways, SGEU and was the Director of Human Resources for the Department of Agriculture. Carl had 42 years of service for the provincial government upon retirement. During the course of their marriage, Carl and Nettie enjoyed travelling to Mexico, Hawaii and Las Vegas.

Over his lifetime, Carl was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church. He was very involved in all aspects of church. He was a Grand Knight and a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

Carl taught a Christopher’s course for Public Speaking. Upon retirement Carl played golf, sang with the Golden Age Singers and became a chauffeur for Nettie and his grandkids. Carl volunteered his time for the Knights of Columbus Bingo.

Carl and Nettie lived a good life, travelling across Canada to visit their children and grandchildren in Ontario and in British Columbia.

Funeral Mass will be held at a later date in the Spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, Saskatchewan S4R 8P6.

My condolences to you Mrs. Folk and your family. I will always remember Carl as one of the first people who interviewed and hired me as an Agrologist in Training with the Department of Agriculture. I am forever grateful for that opportunity.

Our most sincere condolences to Nettie and the whole family! I worked with Carl many years near the end of his career at Agriculture and my brother in law Gordon Falconer worked with him at the start of his career at Highways! He will be greatly missed by all- a life lived well!
