Gerald "Gerry" Dorosh

September 20th, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Gerry Dorosh announces his passing on September 20, 2022 at the age of 74. Gerry was born in Ituna, Saskatchewan on June 22, 1948. He was the oldest of 3 children, growing up on the family farm outside the town of Ituna, Saskatchewan.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents Bob and Eleanor Dorosh as well as his younger brother Glen Dorosh of Ituna, Saskatchewan.

Gerry moved to Regina, Saskatchewan and started his working life in the construction industry.  He moved on to Intercontinental Packers and after 8 years he began a career working within the local trucking industry, driving for Motorways and Kindersley Transport. After that Gerry worked several years as a contractor with the Regina Leader Post. His career ended back in the trucking industry when he retired in 2014.

Gerry married Marlene (nee Oystrick) on November 14, 1970. They raised two beautiful daughters, Shantel and Tyra, in Regina. Gerry and Marlene worked hard and hosted many social gatherings at their home. It was where everyone gathered.  Gerry’s greatest joy was his grandchildren Justin and Tylan. Gerry’s interests were varied. He was an avid sports fan and cheered relentlessly for his Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays as well as the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Minnesota Vikings.  He enjoyed countless hours of sports banter and team trash talk back and forth with his grandson Justin (a hopeless Philadelphia Flyers fan).

Gerry loved music. Playing guitar from a young age, music was his passion. He would listen to music and sing for hours, one of his favorites being the Mule Skinner Blues. Gerry singing this song was one of the highlights of many Christmas celebrations and house parties.

Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years Marlene and his daughters Shantel (Derrick) and Tyra. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren Justin and Tylan and his two fur grandbabies Ginny and Barkley.  Gerry will be looking down and watching over his sister Geraldine (Larry) Parks, his many brothers and sisters-in-law and countless nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, Saskatchewan. Livestream of the funeral mass can be viewed at: https://livestream.com/accounts/17094656/events/10624619. Private family interment will be held in Regina Memorial Gardens, Regina, Saskatchewan. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Regina Humane Society (www.reginahumesociety.ca).
