Peter John Dielschneider

December 26th, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Peter John Dielschneider on December 26, 2020 with his family by his side.

Peter was predeceased by his loving parents Benedict and Rose Marie Dielschneider; father-in-law Frank Wild; sister Freda Eistetter; sister-in-law Delphine Wild; brothers-in-law Willie Steinhubl, Donnie Herauf and Gordon Eistetter; nieces Mindy Herauf and Joan Stricker and nephews Cyril Fahlman and Eddie Steinhubl.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judy Dielschnieder; his children Nichole (Randy) Hallemann and their children Max and Erika, Jason Dielschneider and his children Thomas and Foster and Jodi (Jamie) Bohach and their children Bailey and Ian. He is also survived by his sisters Doris Herauf, Beatrice (Philip) Schaeffer, Loretta Steihubl and brother Ronald (Florence) Dielschneider; mother-in-law Pauline Wild; sister-in-law Diane (Gordon) Schaeffer; brothers-in-law Murray (Donna) Wild, Don (Laurie) Wild, Dave (Carolyn) Wild; and many nieces and nephews. Peter is also survived by many special friends.

Peter was born on December 20, 1951 to Ben and Rose Dielschneider. He was the youngest of 6 children. He worked on the family dairy farm in Katherinthal Colony, Kronau, SK. Peter met his loving wife Judy in 1969, they married on April 29, 1972 and they started their family with their first born Nichole who was born in January of 1973, Jason came along a couple years later in July 1975, and Jodi just made December of 1976 being born on December 31. Peter started working at Sears in 1976 and they purchased their acreage across the road from the family farm. In around 1980 he switched gears and began working for Federated Coop in Regina, SK and moved their family from the acreage into Kronau. Peter and Judy moved the family to Regina in 1988 so they could be closer to the activities involving the kids and family. He worked at Federated Coop until it closed in 1993 which offered him the opportunity to fulfill his dreams of opening a flower shop. The Flower Hut was a successful business that he built from the ground up and he became Regina’s first award-winning floral designer. He later sold the business to his niece Louanne who continues the legacy.

He has had many hobbies throughout the years and been involved in many organizations from showing horses to working with the Horticulture Society, etc. Some of the most important organizations that he had been involved with were the Knights of Columbus in which he volunteered many years in many positions including Grand Knight, the Austrian Edelweiss Dancers which was always his pride because it was something he did with his family and made many lifelong friends and memories, and most recently the Regina Whittlers and Wood Carvers.

In 1996 his biggest dream of becoming a Papa came true when we welcomed his first grandchild into the world and five more between 1999 and 2009. One of Peter’s greatest joys was his grandkids and he was never too proud to let the world know.

Peter was one of the most artistic people you could ever meet. He could pick up a random piece of wood and see something in it, and he could carve it to become his vision. He could do the same with flowers by just picking up random flowers and create beautiful works of art. Peter also had quite the eye for decorating and could envision things so perfectly. Their house, yard and camp sight were true testaments of that.

Peter had a love like none other for the Christmas season, he loved teaching his centerpiece classes for all the ladies, he loved being Santa for all the kids and he loved to make his house beautiful and welcoming for the holidays. It seems so ironic that this would be the time that he would choose to leave us.

Peter had a love for travel and more recently camping. They loved to travel with their best friends Glen and Deb Hubenig and always had stories to share. This all started the first year we moved to Regina and took our first family trip together with the Hubenigs (bologna sandwiches and all). We started out for Kimberley, B.C. and ended up in Victoria, B.C., 9 of us in a large panel van named Herman and the adventures just kept going from there. When Dad got an idea in his head it was go big or go home. A few years ago he decided he wanted to do the camping thing, which started with a small Boler camper trailer and ended up with a 26 ft. fifth wheel camper trailer on a camp lot in Craven World which he so badly missed this year.

Peter’s family would like to thank his caregivers during his 1-year battle with cancer, the Allan Blair Cancer Center, Unit 3B Pasqua Hospital, ICU Pasqua Hospital, Transplant Unit RUH and most of all Dr. Elemary, Nurse Mary Medoza and Dr. Seleem and all the other nurses that took such great care of him.

We would also like to thank his special friends Dennis Bennet and Sue Linnen for their support during their cancer journeys together and hope they continue to fight as Dad is still supporting them through their journey. Most of all we would like to thank Dad’s Donor who, in a strange and uncertain time of COVID-19, proceeded with the transplant to do all they could to help him. A complete stranger was willing to help him with anything that could help him get better, we will be forever grateful. Last, but most certainly not least, we would like to thank all our friends and family who supported and prayed for Dad during this one-year battle. Dad fought for himself, for us, and every one of you. He just got to a point where he could not fight anymore and his body was tired. He will be missed and loved by all.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to Victoria’s Quilts Canada https://www.victoriasquiltscanada.com/ or the Leukemia and Luymphoma Society of Canada https://www.llscanada.org/

Messages:

Dear Judy and family: our hugs and prayers to you all on the loss of this gift. Peter was a tireless volunteer in the cultural community. His laughter and joy could make any room blossom just like all the flowers he so perfectly arranged. I missed seeing Peter and the little dogs in the park, and I will always remember his zest for life, advice, encouragement and support.

Dear Judy and family My sincere condolences. Peter was not only an Alford's employee but a great coworker and friend of mine. It has been difficult to put to paper my thoughts of this wonderful man. Peter never turned away from helping me or others when asked. We enjoyed the many volunteer events - Decorating Government house - Festival if Trees - Hotel Saskatchewan - Grant Hall Hotel Moose Jaw - Humane Society - Home Shows - floor displays the list goes on. His loss is deeply felt by many. Rest in Peace my friend Ms Verna Alford SVM, OSC.

We just learned of, and were saddened to hear of Peter's passing. We had know Peter many years through Alford's Floors, as well as through his volunteer efforts with the Celebration of Culture's annual community event. He always had a friendly smile and story to tell whenever we seen him. While words can't make it easier for you, we hope that our thoughts and prayers for your family will help support you at this difficult and sad time. May he rest in peace and "May his memory be eternal".

Deepest sympathy to Judy and family on the passing of Peter. We were shocked to hear of his death so long after it took place.. Peter had many great qualities. I don't think he had a mean bone in his body and he was always positive in his outlook. His creativity in so many ways reflected his deep faith and love for his God, family and friends. We have two beautiful Christmas wreaths that Peter made. One particularly beautiful wreath is placed in a prominent location above a fireplace in our living room. They have suddenly become even more valued than they were because they will be a reminder of a good , talented gentleman who was a friend to all. May he rest in God's peace.

Dear Judy and family, We're so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. I remember Peter as always cheerful, with a smile for everyone. Our Holy Child Church family and the world have lost a very special man. Our condolences and prayers are with you for strength, peace and comfort as you mourn your great loss. Carol and Bob Seipp

Judy and families I know words can not express the sorrow that you all are feeling. I know that with Gods prayers and he is in God place now. I know that pain you all feel as I have lost 2 brothers Gath and Robert and it does get a little easier as time goes by. I pray that you will always know that a piece of him lives on. Berni (Bundus) Desjardins

Such a fitting tribute to a special guy. I have a very Special pair of Chaps that attest to Peter’s ability to also work with leather and know first hand his compassion and hospitality, that was felt mutually by Judy at a difficult time in my life. My heart breaks as I express my Sincerest condolences to Judy, her Family and Extended Family and the multitude of Friends who travelled on Peter’s Cancer Journey, that he ultimately invited us to travel with him on. What a journey it has been that has shown us what some people will subject themselves to in order to live one day longer and nary a whimper or a complaint, in spite of some things that the mere thought of, scares me. At the conclusion of everything, his Obituary Notice also attests to how much there is to celebrate and many people will have things in their homes that will remind them of Peter. If not for Covid, Peter’s Celebration of Life would have been something to behold and hugs would have been shared by everyone who attended, with many years of sorrow and of joy that each of us had the privilege to share some part of the life of such an amazing and caring man. At this time I send a Virtual Hug to everyone that ever had any affiliation with Peter and a Special Hug to Judy and her Family. May God be with everyone and Rest In Peace, my Friend.

We had such fun together at the garden centre. Peter was a treeeemendous man. A true lover of nature. We will see you again in the most amazing garden some day. Susan Carl Luhning.
