Oswald Ulmer

June 30th, 2019

Oswald Ulmer, late of Regina, SK passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 30, 2019. Originally from Neudorf, SK., Oswald moved to Regina with his wife Doreen and their two children Dale and Marlene in 1959.

Born on the family homestead on December 14, 1924 to Martin and Kate Ulmer, Oswald spent many years helping his father farm. He was 1 of 10 children and being the oldest boy was kept home from the war to help maintain the homestead.  Farming was an important part of his life right until the end. Although he had limited new memories, he was happy to reminisce about the old days and life on the farm. He loved to share his stories and recently recalled that there was not one horse on the farm that did not pass gas while he was walking behind.

Oswald was fortunate enough to find love twice in his lifetime. The first was with his wife and mother of his two children Doreen Miller. They met when she was riding her bicycle past him and not long after that, they were married. They moved to Regina in 1959 where he accepted a position at Queen City Glass as a Glazier.  He worked there for 30 years until his retirement and although that was his job, his true passion remained in farming.

The second time he found love was with Elizabeth Levi. The two of them spent the last 33 years together and she can be credited with Oswald living the long life he did. She took care of him right up until the end and his family will be forever thankful for her presence in his life.

Oswald was predeceased by his wife Doreen, daughter Marlene Eberle and granddaughter Lisa Ulmer. He is survived by his son Dale (Shirley), grandson Shawn (Cheryl), granddaughter Shannon (Wayne), granddaughter Deanna (Brent), great-grandchildren Kyle, Miranda, McKenzie, Hunter, Reese, Kellen, Tenley, Emily and long-time friends Susan Ulmer and George Eberle.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in New Hope Lutheran Church, 370 McIntosh Street North, Regina, SK. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens.
